Stayed for one night on the way from the South Island back to the US. Nice two bedroom unit on a corner looking out over Auckland harbor. Room was spacious, modern and clean with a good kitchenette and a nice deck sheltered from the inveitable Auckland winte rains, so you could sit outside and watch the rain blow through Auckland. Located in the middle of the central business district and very convenient to any business, it is about 2 1/2 blocks from the Viaduct Basin, where they had the America's Cup and there are a number of very nice restaurants and bars. It can take upwards for 45 min to battle traffic in from the airport in the afternoons, but early in the morning it's only about 25 min out to the airport, so if you're only in Auckland for one night, it's still worth going downtown. One thing I noticed was that the master only had a queen bed and the second bedroom was a pair of single beds, so there is room for improvement on both, but other than that, helpful staff, good club lounge, and OK gym. I've stayed at their sister property, the Sebel, which is directly on the Viaduct Basin a number of times, and would probably choose to stay there again over Quay West because it's just a bit nicer, but if the Sebel is sold out as it was for me, you can't go wrong with this.

We visited Auckland to see the show “The Jersey Boys”. We had booked to fly to Auckland on the 11am ANZ flight from Paraparaumu. On arriving at the airport around 10.30am we were told that all flights had been cancelled. The show was at 7.30pm! We began our 7 hour drive to Auckland!

On arriving in Auckland around 5.30pm, having stopped just once for petrol, we were tired and tense. The receptionist and porter were wonderful. They told us to just go to our room and they would park the car. A quick dash across the road for a takeaway, as we had no time for the niceties of dining out, meant we could shower, eat and arrive at the show relaxed. It was a great show.

The Quay West complex is close to the ferry terminal but away from noise. The 1 bed apartment was on the 23rd floor of the block as we had elected to pay a “high floor” premium. The first thing I noticed was that the sheets were possibly the best ironed I’ve seen! How did they do that? It’s funny the things that you notice on first inspection! Good quality furnishings and fit out, with lots of granite. The balcony is huge, another room really. The balcony design made it easy for me, with a fear of heights, to feel perfectly safe on it. The views are great and the windows effectively keep out most of the noise. There is evidence of general wear in most rooms but it’s not so bad that it really affects your enjoyment of the space. Some of the minor chips to the high gloss paintwork in the kitchen were in bizarre positions. What on earth were they doing to chip the paintwork up there?? There were a few small, dark smudges around the bath that I wiped off. The sealant may have been replaced recently. We checked out the café on the first floor. It looks fine, but as we usually head to the waterfront for breakfast we didn’t use this facility.

We checked out the pool on our second day. It’s quite small, but adequate for its purpose. The wall and ceiling decoration is rather over the top, but it’s a well taken care of, pleasant and relaxing space.

The only hitch we encountered was the lamps and clock in the bedroom stopped working sometime during the second night of our stay. I mentioned this as we left and we were told that this was due to a circuit breaker clicking off during the night. Had we been catching the early flight we had originally planned to catch we would have overslept and missed the flight. As the receptionist appeared to know about this particular issue, this is something to watch out for if you stay here. It's likely it will be an issue in other rooms too. You will need to set another alarm to be sure.

In summary, taking all things into consideration, this is a great place that we will come to again. It isn’t absolutely perfect, the picky will find something to moan about I’m certain, but it comes pretty close (for me) and the staff are genuinely lovely and very helpful.

Room Tip: I would go high floor again for the views. This doesn't look like a place that could really disa...

Had a long stay in Auckland for business, so booked an apartment here. The apartment was lovely, and being able to sit on the deck and enjoy the harbour and city views was great. However, what really set this hotel start was the service. Everything from check-in to organising a rental car was handled with friendly efficiency. Nothing was too much trouble! Ths staff had an excellent knowledge of the area and facilities, and gave good advice. A couple of minor maintenance items were repaired immediately with no fuss.

My hat is off to the management and staff. I've stayed in many hotels around the world, and the service here is second to none.

We stayed at the Quay West Suites when in Auckland for a night and had a great time. The staff was extremely helpful and ensured we got a really nice room that met our needs perfectly. We had a great view of the city and it was in a great location. We would definitely stay there again if we were in Auckland.

My wife and I enjoyed an overnight stay on Friday 11 May. We were very impressed with the service at check in, the cleanliness and comfort of the suite as well as the view of the harbour.
We were provided with a complimentary cheesboard and bottle of wine delivered to our suite after check in, very nice selection, and also enjoyed the room service breakfast also very well presented and reasonably priced. Check out was also very friendly and efficient. Just a shame we did not have the time to stay longer.

Room Tip: Suites above the 14th floor provide quite a good view of the Harbour and there is no traffic noise.

A fabulous place to stay in while in Auckland. The reception and lobby, rooms, coffee shop are done up fabulously.
The reception staff of Sid and Sandra were just fabulous. We never heard a no from them. They were always there to answer any questions we had and also giving us tips on our further travel within New Zealand.
The hotel basically consists of suites and so there was only a coffee shop which was open till 9. There is a food court right across the hotel.
The hotel is 5 minute leisure walk to the Viaduct Harbour which is the cradle of all activities in NZ. Also the hotel is only a 5 minute walk to the Sky Tower. It is as central as it can get.
There are loads of restaurants around where one can eat including a food court right across the door.

The room was just perfect. A one bedroom suite with a separate living room and kitchen and laundry areas. The balcony had terrific views of the harbour and the Auckland bridge.

All in all it is just perfect and if i wish to go to Auckland again it would just be for this hotel.
