We spent 3 nights and overall I would have to say that we enjoyed our first stay at the Pullman. Clean but actually smelt clean too not just looked clean. The staff were great, smart in appearance, friendly and very professional. Nothing seemed too small for their attention. We asked for a room with a view in advance and when we arrived the front staff assured me that we had one. 12th floor was as good as we could get and was a view that looked out towards the viaduct area. Just beautiful waking up to the sunrise over the water. The complimentary wifi worked well enough for what it was. Free pool, health gym and spa. Parking during the day was expensive but at night no problem parking outside on the road and that was free till 8am.

Room Tip: Phone and ask for a room with a view in advance so you don't get a sorry we fully booked excuse...

Dear Josywales,

Thank you for your feedback on our hotel, especially your kind comments on our great staff, clean surroundings and room with a view. Thank you also for advising us on what your preferred room type was in advance of your arrival at the hotel so we could make our best efforts to provide you with this.

I hope you managed to squeeze in a spa treatment in addition to enjoying our Spa at the Pullman facilities. It’s a truly unique (and very relaxing) experience, so if you didn’t manage to enjoy one on this visit I would definitely advise you to put it on the “to do” list for you next visit.

Thank you again for taking the time to provide this review.

We hope we can welcome you back to the hotel again in the future.

Kind regards,

Rob McIntyre

This was a weekend stay in a 2 bedroom suite/apartment in the residences side of the building. Check in was quick and staff very friendly/plentiful. On arrival in room it was not quite as expected with a view into the office buildings next door and not of the sea as expected. Due to this being a stay to celebrate a birthday we asked to be moved to a room with a view, the staff were accommodating and moved us to a suite with a wonderful sea view . Special mention must go to Rick who looked after us very well, he was a true professional who clearly cared about his job. He handled the request to move rooms with aplomb and provided a special birthday treat the following day.

The negatives which prevented me giving 5/5 included the seemingly unsolvable Room service issues which I continue to have in hotels. We ordered dinner on the first evening which was only just warm when it arrived with both the steak and chicken breast being overcooked, the chicken to the point where it was rendered almost inedible. Breakfast the next morning was also average with fruit salad instead of cut fruit and an egg white omelet which resembled fried egg whites from a road side cafe circa 1985. Cooking an omelet is not difficult, nor is ensuring food is delivered warm and correctly cooked. This is especially irksome when you pay a fee for the food to be delivered to your room on top of the ridiculous prices of room service. We did not complain about this to the hotel directly as I would have usually as we wanted a peaceful and quiet weekend and the majority of the food was just edible.

The Spa was a highlight with good service and nice facilities and staff.I had possibly the best massage of my life. The internet is also charged at a reasonable rate of $10/ 24 hours, reasonable only in comparison with NZ and Aust pricing, I fail to understand receiving free high speed internet in a backpackers in Thailand or a youth hostel in Mongolia but having to pay for it in 5 star hotels in Australasia.

This Hotel has stepped up significantly since accor took over, while the hard product itself may not be up to the standards of Pullman hotels worldwide the hotel seems to be getting the much needed investment it requires with the lobby; bar and restaurant looking much improved. The Staff are great, the Pool,Spa and gym are also very good. The room service does not live up to the potential nor do the rooms which are average for what is being payed. But the service is good, the hotel is clearly run by people who care and this is obvious. Good personalized service can overcome other little niggles and that is what the Pullman delivered. We will return.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view and stretch to a room or apartment in the residences side of the building.

Dear awoody91,

Thank you for taking your time to review our property, we really appreciate your comments.

Thank you also for bringing your room concerns to our attention so we were able to rectify the situation so you could enjoy your stay. So many people feel they are ‘making a fuss’ and keep their feelings to themselves if something is not what they were expecting, whereas we welcome the feedback. I am glad that in this instance you did let us know so our friendly staff was able to assist you with a room change.

Please accept my apologies in your room service. Your constructive feedback is most welcomed. I have passed this on to our food and beverage team and they are currently looking into this and how to make the experience a more enjoyable one. Please do let us know if you see this improvement during your next stay.

Thanks again for staying with us and for all your positive comments especially with regards to our spa and professional service.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel again soon.

Kind regards,

Enjoyed a great overnight stay at the Pullman Auckland, great room, very friendly and helpful staff. Complimentary drink/coffee in the bar. Very YUM breakfast included in our rate.
Great location to walk into CBD to eat - had a great meal at Mecca in the Chancery. Very central.
The bar staff happily organised for us to have a toasted sandwich mid afternoon even though it was actually on the menu.
Car parking ($35 cost) but at least it was safe.

Room Tip: Gorgeous comfy King size bed - 10th floor, facing west.

I was only here shortly due to flight cancellations but the room was amazing, huge, comfortable and spotless.

Beautiful bathroom and it was nice and quiet. Good location too not far from queen st and Ponsonby.

Very happy - would recommend.

Stayed for 1 night with friends in an Executive Suite. Rooms are a good size if a little dated in decor. I believe there is a more modern section available; not sure if they have suites. Bathroom is small and it would be better to have 1 large walk in shower rather than a bath. Pool is excellent, and the sauna and steam room are also good. Whilst the facilities put it in a 5 star bracket, the service and decor probably put it in the 3.5 possibly 4 star bracket. If the price is right it's worth staying just for the pool facilities.

Thank you for your feedback on our hotel, especially your comments on our pool facilities. For your next stay I would suggest staying in one of our Residence Suites. These suites come complete with your own kitchen facilities, balcony and a larger bathroom complete with a walk in shower.
