This was our second time here. The first was a wonderful experience and I have to say this did not disappoint either. Rooms are great. Really nice, comfortable and well decorated. Quiet too. We bought a package that included a bottle of bubbles in the room, dinner and breakfast. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was that at dinner they took the main menu away from us and gave us a "special" menu for package deal guests. Made me feel like a second class citizen! Maybe I am being a bit over sensitive about it, but it did. And the "special" menu was very limited. So dinner was not a big hit. Breakfast is ok. Nothing great. But my expectations are very high. But it is not bad at all. It is just not amazing like other place I have been to in Asia. That spoils you! But I did not expect that and breakfast was good for what it was. Overall I will definately stay here again. Very handy location for cinemas and theatres. Not for clubbing and stuff.

The Grand Hotel may have been grand some decades ago, but not any more. First of all we were positively surprised of the location (very central), the availability of free parking and of the friendliness of staff at the checkin. But then the whole bad story started. We asked for a double bed-room and got it. However, when my wife lifted the cover of the matress, we were shocked: there was blood and dirt on the whole matress (which we could see, as the matress cover was only foreseen for a single bed). Thus, we went down again to get the problem sorted out. One hour (and some reminders by telephone) later the concierge came a bit helpless with some (other single bed) matress covers and proposed to put several layers on the matress. He said that all the housekeeping-personnel went home. We thought "O.K.", let's sort them out tomorrow. When we came back in the evening, the same story again. Nothing was changed, we got just a single matress-cover on the disgusting matress. Again, a hard fight with the management who wanted to "bribe" us with a free breakfast (as if a breakfast can replace an unhygenic situation...). Only after showing the manager the photos of the disgusting matress, he initiated that we got a double-bed matress cover...
What to learn? Never look at the matress and never have a problem in this hotel - then you are lost...

Thank you for your review with regard to your recent stay at Rendezvous Grand Hotel. In the first instance I would like to extend to you my sincerest apologies for inconveniance and lack of follow up you encountered during your stay. This is a rare situation and as such I have spoken with my team who have failed to alert me, we have also discussed what should have happened with regard to ensuring your satisfaction immediatley. What you encountered was unacceptable and I believe a very diffrenet approach was required. I would invite you to make contact with me here at the hotel, I would like to put this situation right.

Stayed at the Rendezvous using a Grab one discount voucher (prepaid). Really happy with the room - had 2 double beds in room so our kids could share the room with us. Bathroom was large with a separate bath and shower. Beds comfy, and quiet rooms. Kids used the pool, decent size, but was a bit on the cold side for me. Bar was really nice - watched the rugby there. Buffet breakfast was fantastic. Decent selection of dishes, both hot and cold. We got a pay for one, get one free voucher with the room, and then kids were free. Parking was also included in our package. Location was really good - quite central, with a walkway under the road over to Aotea square for few more choices of restaurants for dinner etc.
Probably the only negatives (which didnt really worry us too much), was the lifts were quite slow, and the remote was hard to work.
This was our third stay at this hotel, and would stay again with a good priced package.

The Rendezvous is a very nice hotel in Auckland and located near enough to all the downtown attractions and if you have a hard time walking within $5-10 max of anything downtown. I stayed here 17-18 June for business. The rooms have been updated and modern, the room service menu is very good and the cable on tv has plenty of good stations to pick from. The Japanese restaurant on site is really good also!

My husband and I booked this hotel through a Virgin Blue package to see Jersey Boys because it seemed nice and close to be able to walk to the theatre and back and it worked perfectly! We were just a few minutes away from restaurants and even walked down to the harbour to take a ferry ride to Waiheke Island. The check in staff were friendly and helpful. Although some of the decor seemed a bit dated, our room was a good size and in top condition. We had a lovely view but perhaps my favourite feature of this hotel was the enormous atrium - our room opened on the corridor facing the atrium and it was great. We were pleased to find we could park the car underneath and come and go for a flat fee of $30 for the four days we stayed there. The room was quiet and the king size bed very comfortable - why don't more hotels have king size beds??!! Also why don't all hotels sell a breakfast package instead of charging individually? Some of the lifts weren't working while we were there but it wasn't a problem. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Get a room that opens on to the atrium.

I've stayed in this hotel a few times recently for work and am impressed each time. Service is friendly and helpful. Rooms are lovely, spacious and modern with big bathrooms. Also super quiet so very conducive to a good night's sleep. Great location with just a short walk to Aotea Square and the top end of Queen St. The only thing i find slightly off-putting is the telephone next to the toilet - is that really necessary??!

We stayed here recently on a weekend trip to Auckland having stayed here previously about three years ago and being impressed we decided to stay again and were impressed once again. From the time we walked in the door we were not disappointed. First class service from the time we checked in until we left. The rooms are meticulous with great amenities and plenty of room - very comfortable beds and classy bathrooms - we weren't in the most expensive room having only booked a double deluxe but it was just perfect. Great location handy to everything and very reasonable parking. We are heading to Auckland again in October and will be booking here again.
