Overall not a bad place, just a little dated. The hotel doesn't have a lot of personnality but certainly worth the price. The room I stayed in a was double, king beds were not available, and was quite. The bathroom was large with a seperate shower and bathtub. The shower had a few mold spots but was clean.

Room Tip: The hotel is high enough street traffic shouldn't be a problem.

This hotel is just off the main central city but a short walk to anything you need. I rate this hotel for good service clean rooms and good money for value. I would choose this hotel over others in the area (we have stayed in a few) as it represents a good hotel at very good rates

Room Tip: We had 2 standard double beds but you could upgrade to a king if you wanted

Had a 3 nite stay in this facility as part of a South Pacific tour. Was very irritated because there was no in-room safe; but the facility won me over before leaving! Large and comfortable room, bed, and bath; nice view, central location with easy access to the commercial area. Friendly staff; handy WiFi connections. Breakfast buffet was fine. Had 2 other meals here-one part of the group package and the second because it happened to be pouring outside and didn't want to venture out, and the food was very, very good. I'd return in a second for the "butter chicken" and New Zealand charm!

Room Tip: Rooms on the 10th floor and higher reportedly had the in-room safes!

Booked an OL special (impulse wedding anniversary) night away. Check in was pleasant and effortless (lovely reception staff) checked into a neat, and clean room with a great King sized bed (my wife loved that it was a rare, sapcious hotel bathroom with a bath). Only minor gripe was the on demand movies were a bit pricey ($15.50 ea) but totally offset by the cheap minibar prices and even better were the reasonably priced drinks and an afternoon snack in Atrium bar & cafe. Next day, following a wonderful leisurely breakfast in the Pacific restaurant (impressive selection of continental and buffet breakfast), it was wonderful to have a later checkout 11am to top off a memorable night away. One hightlight of this hotel architecture affording a stunning atrium as you enter the lobby - puts paid to other inner city boxy hotels!! Very nice!!

Room Tip: King sized beds are lovely, as are the baths! Very nice having a room overlooking the Atrium too!

Thank you for your review. Once again we are proud to offer Auckland’s largest hotel rooms at 36sqm with separate Baths and Showers in all Bathrooms across the Hotel. We do offer low cost minibars, free local calling and 3 Hours free Internet as part of our Value promise. This may make up for the Movie Pricing which is set by the International Provider. Thank you for comments regarding the good food across the hotel our Chef will be delighted, next time I would encourage you to try Katsura –our signature Japanese Restaurant.

Best regards

Disregard the poor and terrible reviews at your peril: the recurring theme re poor standards of customer service and general complacency, particularly with reference to reception staff, proved chillingly accurate.

I booked 2 nights at the Rendezvous as a treat for my daughters at the end of their back packing tour of New Zealand (and as a birthday treat). If a room has been booked and paid for it is not for the reception staff to decide whether the guests checking in are worthy of that room or not. All guests should be treated courteously and bookings honoured.

I booked a club room for 2 nights through Expedia and spoke to my daughters (via Skype) after their first night at the hotel. It soon became clear that they had not been assigned the class of room for which I had paid.

I advised them to contact reception which they did and they were moved to a club room for their second night but sadly not without a battle with reception staff.

I contacted Expedia to advise what had happened but was told that the hotel would need to confirm which room(s) had been allocated. Expedia contacted the hotel and were told that the girls had been in the same room for both nights – so the first night room on the 5th floor was magically teleported to the 11th floor for the second night….. – why it should take hours to confirm that there was in fact a change of room is beyond me.

Now I should stress that this was a treat – the girls shouldn’t have been put in the position of having to fight for what I had paid for; nor indeed should I have had to explain the details of the booking to them – its like receiving flowers via Interflora and asking the person who sent them to tell you what they paid for them to check that they got value for money.

So to the manager of the hotel I say – SORT OUT YOUR RECEPTION STAFF – they are the public face of your business and their performance can be improved hugely with little or no outlay. They need to be as courteous to the last customer of the day as they are to the first. They need to know that it is not their place to judge the guests and they need to know that they can acknowledge when a mistake has been made and take immediate action to rectify that mistake. Why does there always have to be an argument before something is done?

Thank you for your review and I wish to extend to you my sincerest apologies for the service and experience that your Daughters encountered, this falls well below the minimum standards of customer service that we strive for. I have investigated the background to the events and can confirm that it was the Hotel that is at fault when processing the reservation. I will make direct contact with you to discuss this with your further and ensure that we put this situation right.

Stayed one night here with family to go to a show at the Civic Theatre. It was just a short walk away. Had a swim in the indoor pool which could be heated a bit more but overall a comfortable stay with a very nice room and lovely bathroom. We did not eat at the Hotel but the Restaurants looked very nice.

Room Tip: Had a very nice room on 12th floor with very little noise
