After spending a wonderful 3 weeks exploring Northland, New Zealand, my husband and I wanted to find a hotel for the night in Auckland as we were flying out early the next morning. We wanted to have a full day of exploring downtown Auckland so we arrived very early in the morning at the hotel. The staff were so accommodating! If a room had not been ready they were more than willing to look after our luggage and take it to the room once it was available. However they were able to get us into our room very early that morning so that we could stow our luggage and get out and about! ... and off we went! This hotel is located so handily to all sorts of major attractions in downtown Auckland that we were able to walk to whatever we wanted to see.

We were so surprised at the quality of the room for the price we were paying. It was huge... with a kitchenette and sitting area which included a lovely flatscreen TV (upon which we watched a movie that night while lying in bed as you could turn the TV either way). If one needs privacy in the bed area one has the option to pull a folding screen wall across the width of the room. Despite the location (right in the heart of downtown Auckland) we did not hear any excessive street noise, although we are really not bothered by things like that... hey, if you choose to stay in the middle of a huge city there's going to be street noise if you open a window, right? The bed was extremely comfortable with a lovely down duvet...

Since my laptop had crashed I was relieved to find that there was a computer that we could use in the lobby. One gets a code for 30 minute usage... great for checking email and flight times etc.

The staff were able to arrange for a taxi to take us to the airport very early the next morning for a rate that was much better than what we had originally arranged. They (the staff) were extremely pleasant and helpful. We had breakfast in the attached restaurant both mornings and were pleased with the food and great coffee.

All in all a great, though too short, stay at the Scenic Hotel!

Room Tip: The one we had was quite high up and it made for a very quiet night.

We stayed in your hotel for 3 nights in very spacious room with kitchenette and sitting room facilities. Great bathroom, no surplus noise from outside. Vry central location. Good stay after long flight from NL. Recommended!!

Our last night in New Zealand,The Scenic in Auckland let us down but the staff rallied to help with our sleep. The Scenic is a typical corporate tower block over priced and soulless and very noisy ventilation noises and street alike, but the staff are very helpful.
It was impossible to sleep in our first allocated room and were moved just before 1a.m and so got some much needed sleep before our flight to San Francisco.
Do yourself a favour stay in Devonport and get the ferry in to explore the city

Room Tip: Don't accept no 813

Stayed one night only. Alot of noise from street makes it a hard nights sleep and being a Monday night I would hate to think of the level of noise on a weekend night. Bed double only, Room felt it needed a good spring clean.Wouldnt bother staying there again. Questionable 4 star. Staff however were very good, efficent and polite.

We stayed here 3 separate nights during a recent holiday. The hotel is in a great spot in the centre of the city. The rooms are lovely with kitchen facilities, something we didn't have in Wellington and Christchurch. The first 2 rooms we had didn't have anywhere for suitcases but the third room was much bigger with more bedroom space. The beds have a very soft mattress protector on them, which makes them a bit hot, like sleeping on a doona. 1/2 hour of free internet per day on a good computer in the lobby was appreciated, but the $4.50 charge for using a phone card wasn't. Valet parking was $20.

Room Tip: the rooms on the Queen St side are much bigger.

The layout of the 'room'. You could partition off the bedroom if wanted, spotless, great linen & bed. A dishwasher no less! And a range-hood, just everything if you wanted to cook in your room, oven etc. Being a lone woman traveller, I really appreciated the security lock on the door. Air-con worked exc. Decent place to stay and so close to everything. The valet car service was great. Price was excellent value. Room service exc. Prices of breakfast (didn't look at dinner ones) exorbitant compared to what was available 50 seconds away.

Room Tip: I had a room on the 5th floor facing the main st, Queen St, quiet with windows shut. The windows ope...

The room, equipped with a smal kitchenette, was very basic, but clean and comfortable. The place is about 10-15 minutes walk from the harbour. The airport bus stops just outside. The breakfast is expensive, but there are several cafes nearby where you can get a coffee and a muffin the size of a newborn’s head for a much more reasonable price. No free Wi-Fi available.
