Albeit aging this facility must offer the amongst best value for money close to Auckland's CBD.

Handy to all motorway junctions, it is on a very quiet street which puts you in close proximity to either Parnell , Newmarket or downtown Auckland. We had a room on the 4th floor which had panoramic views and even had its own balcony.

Quick two-night stay with my mum. Check in was awful, the woman was incredibly rude and unhelpful. We were put in a room on the ground level. No lights to guide our way and when we turned on the lights in the room there was an almighty smash - bulb blew and fell out. Gave us a heart attack! Back to reception, placed in another ground floor room after some time. Tiny room, shower temperature had a mind of its own, huge bathtub to step in to the shower (not great for my 60yr old mum who slipped and almost broke a leg), beds not particularly comfortable, breakfast bland (think tasteless eggs on soggy bread for premium pricing) although coffee was good and so was the service at the restaurant (breath of fresh air after hotel reception's service). Next to NO plugs in room for recharging phones/computers. Had to dive down the back of the desk to use a second plug only to find that all the TV and DVD plugs were sparking! Brought to the attention of staff who didn't seem to care. Given plugs sit next to curtains, I would be concerned about the safety of this place!!

Room Tip: Do not take a room on the ground floor, they are tiny, outdated and unsafe!

Third time back to this hotel, this time with friends. STayed in the two bedroomed apartment. Excellent value for money. Included full cooked breakfast. Lovely Parnells boutique shops, cafes and bars 10 minute walk away. Queen Street CBD about 30/40 minutes walk away. Fantastic view from balcony of room out over the harbour. Definitely the place to stay if you don't want to stay in the CBD. Taxi only 5 minute drive about $11-$15 if you don't feel like walking back to the hotel.

Room Tip: * If you want harbour view make sure you say this when booking * Best taxi to get is 09 300 3000

Lovely, good sized room. Two twin sized beds (as requested) were extremely comfortable and had electric blankets (which were great for sore muscles after an adventurous trip). The bathroom was nice, and well stocked. Ironing board with iron in the room cupboard came in handy. The coffee and tea facilities with the bar fridge was a nice surprise. Our views the first time through were alright but the next time we stayed (on the way out of New Zealand) we had fantastic views of the Auckland Skyline and harbor, which were gorgeous at night. All the staff were very lovely and accommodating. The restaurant on site was also fantastic, with great gluten free and dairy free options.

Spent there three night on my trip to NZ. Nice updated room, just the bathroom was rather old-fashioned. But very comfortably beds. Stunning views of downtown Auckland (I had room 509). Also rather nice was the restaurant. Better pastas than in a "real" italian restaurant in Parnell. Would stay there also on another trip to Auckland.

We have stayed in this hotel before and we enjoyed it every time. The motel side is bit dated but very clean and tidy. The hotel side has amazing views and also very spacious. Bed is comfortable. The hotel and motel is fully equipped with a kitchenette and has a microwave as well.
Parking could be a problem if you arrived late at night. We parked on the road a few times - not an issue unless it rains.
There is a restaurant attached to this hotel but we did not eat there. Hotel is close to Parnell Road and there are many great restaurants on there.

Room Tip: Pay extra to have room with a view to city lights - it is simply magical

"Wow, what a view!" We stayed two nights and were happy with the location. We did take the bus back to the hotel after doing the Lonely Planet Walking Tour but walked everywhere else. The location is very near the Auckland Rose Garden (2 blocks), Trinity Cathedral and the Auckland Domain/Auckland Museum. Discovered the restaurant the second day. We had three meals there...very good. I should have booked a room for our return to Auckland but wasn't sure we would stay the night before we flew back. When I later tried, they were booked. We stayed down the street but ate at the Quality Parnell Restaurant. All the staff were nice and very helpful.

Room Tip: Room with a water view is nice and that building has an elevator.
