We booked the Crowne through a last minute hotel booking system so got an outstanding price for a Superior Room on both occassions we stayed during our trip to New Zealand.

We arrived in the early hours of the morning after travelling from the UK for over 30 hours to be greeted by a friendly professional member of staff who greeted us by name as we approached reception and informed us that our room was awaiting us - we were made to feel extremely welcome which was great after a long journey.

Room was outstanding and spotlessly clean. One of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in and I've stayed in many hotels. Plenty of clean towels in the bathroom and other condiments. The room was decorated beautifully and felt very welcoming.

Restaruant was superb and staff extremely helpful and friendly . Service was superb and the food outstanding value for money - in fact it cost us less to eat in the restaruant than to eat in Auckland!

We were so impressed with the service and facilities available to us at the Crowne Plaza we booked a further two nights at the end of our holiday and once again we could complain about nothing the service and value for money were totally outstanding.

Our overall view of this is hotel is it is worth every penny and would be more than happy to recommend it to anyone who requires a hotel whilst in Auckland.

Were on a multi stop South Pacific tour and selected this hotel based upon other positive reviews. Of 14 accommodations, mainly hotels, that we used this may well have been the best (and we were fortunate enough to have good experiences throughout). The location could not have been more central, the room was excellent and the car park convenient and time extended by friendly staff the next morning.
The breakfast (paid for separately but within the figure below) was as good as can be had.
Admittedly we booked at an internet deal of 190 N.Z. dollars with said breakfast (car park was another 8 dollars).
The somewhat unusual nature of the foyer might be offputting to some as is open to an adjacent mall, also the slightly godforsaken nature of plumb central Auckland may not be attractive but that's hardly the hotel's fault.
Mere yards away the revolving restaurant in the Skytower was a surprisingly good-value and pleasant experience (make sure you book the lunch with tower access deal as is barely more than the cost of the access alone).

We spent two nights in a club room at the Auckland Crowne Plaza. The room was comfortable with a large bed and many pillows. Although the sofa in the room is a one-sitter it was still nice. Our room overlooked the city, and therefore we did not have the same issue of being across the street from another hotel.

The Club Lounge on the top floor is not a nice as others but it was still good. It is not particularly large for a hotel that caters to businessmen. One could easily see how if everyone rushed in for breakfast at the same time that space would be an issue.

Breakfast in the lounge consisted of basic food items like cereals, hot and cold pastries and fruit. All in all, nothing special but it fit the bill. The afternoon nibbles were nice, along with canapes in the evening before dinner.

As with a previous reviewer the sole computer in the lounge can be a problem. Although there is a sign asking others to be mindful of those wanting to use the computer, there is no one there enforce it. Fortunately, we did not have a problem.

The hotel is centrally located with access to all the treats of downtown Auckland.

The hotel was within 10-15 minute walk from EVERYTHING in downtown Auckland. I've seen a lot of the world, and stayed in many places. Because this hotel catered to business travelers, it was extremely professionally-run; courteous; clean; and professional. The rooms weren't particularly FANCY, per se, but they were very clean, comfortable, QUIET -- let me say that again -- VERY QUIET! -- and the hotel staff was profoundly helpful, polite, and considerate.

Would definitely stay again.

It was obvious from the start that this was not a hotel with good service. There was no porter on duty when we arrived and when we did find one he wasn't really interested. We put our own bags onto a trolley and then wheeled it into the hotel. Joined the Q to check in.

Room was clean and functional. The sofa was only really suitable for one person and any view was blocked by the buildings very close by. Give it a "closed in" feeling and rooms overlooked directly by other hotels very close by. Made a few phone calls from the room (don't!) and the costs were excessive.

There was a function downstairs so we were unable to use the public rooms or restaurants due to the noise. Ordered room service and the quality of the food was appalling. NZ has great food so there was no excuse for this.

We used the "business lounge" which was dominated by a big TV and sports channel.... Only 1 computer and no printer. Q to use the computer. There was a hotel sign to try and encourage people to limit the usage. It's obvious that they are aware of this problem and can't even be bothered to buy another one - they aren't that expensive.

Maybe for one night that would be OK but if you are used to good hotels it will be a disappointment.

We arrived on the morning of the 8th of July and departed on the 16th. The people at the Front Desk were very professional, attentive to our needs and very accomodating. Very professional! This was always the case also with the Concierge, Porter and Bell Boys. Housekeeping did a great job. The hotel is nice and very well located. Perhaps the guest room baths could use a re-modeling but besides that the hotel was very nice. The only problem we had was the fact that the waitresses at their main restaurant were always in a hurry to close breakfast before the scheduled time (10:30 am). They were eager to set up for lunch and less attentive to breakfast costumers. I did mentioned this to one of the waitresses. We had a good time in Auckland. What a great city and such a fabulous country!!! We shall return...hopefully real soon!!!

On the plus point the hotel is very central. The cost is also not bad so all in all I still ahve to say its value for money.
I was disapointed by the tired room and even more tired bathrooms. Breakfat was good and the selection quite extensive so for the business traveler it ticks several boxes.
I travel extensively and end up always going back to the same places because I hate getting disapointed after a hard day working and being away from your family.
I will not go back and should have stayed at the Langham which has consistently been good (and not much more expensive). My customer's were staying at the Crown so that is why I did the switch. Live and learn....
