I stayed with my partner at the Sofitel last weekend and we both found the staff to be incredibly friendly and obliging. They really made us feel special and offered that one-on-one service. The facilities are in excellent condition including the saunas, gym and pool. This is one of those hotels with great attention to detail and makes you wonder how they could possibly think of everything.
I thought the Sofitel would score high marks it certainly has for me in the past. Sadly this one somehow missed the mark. The French greetings were tired and insincere and my loyalty wasn't rewarded in any way on this occasion.
Our pre-booked room offered a queen bed (not the king I requested) and the view across to the Vodaphone and Microsoft offices wasn't what I had in mind either. The room was small in comparison to the bathroom but it could have been worse?
The reception are and the foyer were beautifully designed and they raved on about the 100's of candles that are lit at night when really it was the room that mattered.
Good location and overall an OK stay. Would I stay here again? No
PS the cafe was nothing to talk about and the $2.00 shop prints didn't really add to the faux French theme.
Absolutely prefer the Novotel Auckland Airport anytime - fantastic service and rooms that are just as good.
This is the most luxurious and upmarket hotel that I have found in Auckland to date. Its location is excellent - very quiet whilst a short walk away from a raft of excellent restaurants and bars along the water's edge. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff uniformly polite and helpful and the rooms are very comfortable. The breakfast offering is excellent. The only minor criticism is the lack of a good bar; the one that is there is noisy and uncomfortable and the bar staff tend to be inattentive, but this can be easily remedied by putting an experienced manager in charge of it. Would definitely stay there again.
