I was a regular here.Have been here quite a few times on business trips to Auckland. Good quality rooms, beds, bathrooms etc... are let down by soulless service which is generally uphelpful when you need something to be done for you. On one of my trips I left a day early and they insisted on making me pay for the day - even though I was on full rate. When I challenged him on this policy the receptionist asked me to walk away from the desk so he could call his manager (????). Even though my hotel is always pre-paid for, they often still ask for a payment (my travel agent shared the emails with pre-payment details to prove they were not dropping the ball). Terribly expensive breakfast - but that's optional so doesn't figure in my score for this place.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view. I've had no success with this, but you might.

We stayed here twice, each time for one night only on our way to & from Fiji. Rooms & staff are pleasant, the hotel is well positioned for the bars & restaurants in Viaduct Harbour & a short hop into the City Centre.

The hotel has possibly the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in, which was a godsend folllowing 26 hours of flights from the UK

One thing to be aware of is that passers by can see straight into your room, so the blinds need to be drawn if you want privacy

Breakfast was the only meal we ate at the hotel which we thought it to be overpriced & on the second occasion, quite a lot of items were missing from the buffet & not replenished - possibly down to the fact that the main restaurant was being refurbished

Room Tip: Pull the blinds!

The G/F restaurant was ther crowning glory of this luxury waterfront Hotel property. The standard of the cuisine, sourcing fresh New Zealand produce, was very high indeed. The Hotel Lobby looks divine at night, soft candlelight lighting the way along the paths and the tiki statue shimmering in the pool. Helpful staff and a Continental, often Francophone flavour at the Reception desk.

Fantastic stay, room and time. Just not quite worth what you have to pay. Location is great, and the surroundings are great. Rooms are strangely close to every other room and a bunch of apartments, but nothing some closed curtains can't fix.
