Description: Café Hanoi is a modern Vietnamese restaurant housed within a heritage warehouse space in Britomart, the city’s oldest commercial district. The restaurant reflects our passion and respect for Vietnamese food and culture. Our menu offers authentic Hanoian street food that has made the city world famous, and other more modern dishes that pair traditional Northern Vietnamese cooking techniques with the best of New Zealand produce. We are very careful to choose ingredients that have been sourced with a deep respect for the environment.

“Perfect flavours”
Reviewed August 27, 2014 via mobile

What a delight. Shared plates of beautiful food, packed full of flavour.
We ordered the special of the day of beef wrapped in leaves with a ginger and nut dressing. Then onto courses from the menu.
This included the chicken thighs w kaffir lime, lemongrass, ginger & okra. The chicken was tender and the heat from the spices lingers in the mouth.
Next was the pork spare ribs. Now this is not a spectator sport! Hands on and wow. The marinade of five spice, ginger & sesame work brilliantly.
With the meat dishes we ordered rice and a savoy & red cabbage salad. The salad is sweet and cool, a perfect balance to the spices in the main dishes.
I also tried the red bean brûlée but, some things just shouldn't be put together and this is one of them.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Once we found the place, we were in heaven. The dishes were sublime, each with fresh and distinct flavours with beautiful presentation and pace. The service was superb. The ambience was perfect. Loved it all and highly recommend. Will be back on my next visit.

“Nice food, friendly staff, noisy environment. ”
Reviewed August 17, 2014 via mobile

Common to many eating venues in the area the cafe is in a minimally converted warehouse type building. Quite dark (hard to read the menu) and the concrete walls make the place quite a sound box. On the positive side the good was lovely and fresh, full of flavour and nicely presented. Staff very friendly and provided efficient service. Decent value for money, not budget prices though. Would certainly visit again.

“Great dinner”
Reviewed August 5, 2014 via mobile

We had fantastic evening here with friends for dinner. The food was excellent, we tried pretty much everything on the menu as we shared amongst our group. The service was great, they were happy to explain the dishes and answer our questions. Can't wait to our next visit.
