Description: Café Hanoi is a modern Vietnamese restaurant housed within a heritage warehouse space in Britomart, the city’s oldest commercial district. The restaurant reflects our passion and respect for Vietnamese food and culture. Our menu offers authentic Hanoian street food that has made the city world famous, and other more modern dishes that pair traditional Northern Vietnamese cooking techniques with the best of New Zealand produce. We are very careful to choose ingredients that have been sourced with a deep respect for the environment.

Chose to dine in cause saw it was always crowded with people, imagined they must have good food. Although we waited long for a table but the whole experience was totally worth it. The manager and staffs are all warmed and friendly, making our dining experience very comfortable. My friends are having Vietnamese food for the first time so the waitress patiently introduced the menu to us. Food are served fast although there are a lot of customers. We can saw the kitchen crew busying from the bar table. We are first delighted with a special free dish from the chef. It was a crispy appetizer with mushrooms and other vegetables on top. I especially love their summer rolls. Since I'm unable to eat prawn/shrimp, they attentively served my rolls separately. All other dishes tasted so good as well. The pork and fish are nicely cooked. Eating together with the herbs and rice noodle remind me of my Hanoi trip previously. Our wonderful dining experience ended with the traditional warm Vietnamese dessert ensured to be great by the waitress. It is rice balls with black sesame, coconut and peanut inside. The warm and sweet taste paired perfectly with the sesame and coconut. Can't help thinking about the taste. Will definitely wanna bring other people to come back again. Advise to make reservation to avoid disappointment as their table demand are high.

p/s: Halfway eating, the fire alarm was triggered. We have no choice but the left our delicious food and evacuated from the building. While waiting for the fire fighters to check through, the attentive waitress ensured us all dishes will be re-served in hot condition later on. They made and keep their promise. I seldom rate excellent for restaurant service especially those crowded one, but Cafe Hanoi certainly deserved an excellent for it.

Had heard good things about Cafe Hanoi but was put off by their no bookings policy. In town for dinner earlier than usual one night we decided to give it a go and extremely glad we did - the food was awesome. Plenty to choose from, reasonable prices and serving sizes. Only negative including the hassle of not being able to book, we were rather cramped in along the bench seating with our neighbouring tables so close you could hear every word, and had to shuffle carefully to get out! But will be back to try more of the menu, hopefully in different seats.

I love this place, it always hits the spot. The wait staff are always lovely and good at suggesting things if you are need a hand.
The rice paper rolls and the open prawn wontons are to die for. The pork belly is amazing (the best I have ever eaten), and the market fish on noodles with snake beans is also to die for.
The flavour combinations are go so well together. Their mocktails are also very yummy, I always go early to secure a table.
Love this place!

We enjoyed everything we had, nice place , nice staff , good for nice simple food. Not an extensive menu and very limited vegetarian options or small share dishes. But definitely go but don't wait an hour for a table.

Had to search for the restaurant door but once inside we were greeted warmly. Table within 10 minutes although we had no booking. Good range of wine and diversity of the dishes made it all an amazing experience. Have the prawns with green rice and the pork belly.. Stunning!!
