It's my local shopping area and has great atmosphere and some good cafes. Really hums on Market Day, last Sunday of the month.

I bought some English visitors her to see the bush and we stopped in Titirangi Village for lunch. It's small and the lunch places are interesting but the gem of the day was a second hand book shop in which my historian professor relative was able to buy a rare book on British Kings that he couldn't find in England! Titirangi is like that. Try the small art Gallery in Lopdell House which is the tall building at the end of the village away from Auckland. Always interesting displays there.

but now just part of a day's outing that would take in The Scenic Dive in the Waitakeres and a side trip to Piha. Not worth going to, just in it's own right ~ the quirkiness its renowned for is as an artist's haven, but that's where they live, not where the average Joe Bloggs will feel "arty", if you know what I mean. Perhaps they should never have built a supermarket there!

Titirangi is a great place to relax back on the weekend and have brunch. There are plenty of cafes to choose from and some nice shops as well. The craft market on the last Sunday of the month is a great way to spend a morning as well.

We like the market at Titirangi on a Sunday. We also like the theatre building. It is a quaint little town. I found out today that titi is maori for mutton bird and that there was lots at one time and they are now returning.
