We booked a two-room apartment at the Celestion Waldorf to attend a concert at Vector Arena. We were really surprised at how cheap we got the rooms for through Booking.com - really good value to share an apartment. The apartment was modern and spacious and had (just about) everything we needed. The rooms were great, big, comfy beds and balconies off both rooms. My partner was concerned that there wasn't a tv in the bedroom, but you could actually see the lounge tv from our bed - not so for the other bedroom. We had other friends booked in to the same hotel and their rooms seemed a bit smaller than ours, but they were in the other tower, so perhaps not totally comparable. I thought ours was the best!
We stayed on the 7th floor and it was nice that the rooms weren't right next to eachother. Living area was roomy and had everything you needed. For longer term stays you'd probably want something with an oven - we kept thinking about what we could get from the supermarket nearby and had to keep reminding ourselves we couldn't heat anything up in an oven.
The bathroom was large and pretty clean. There were a few cracks at the bottom of the shower that could've been scrubbed a bit harder, but most wouldn't notice that. Huge shower with good pressure. Only things missing were shampoo and conditioner minis - that would've been great to have. My only complaint about the room was that there was a metal bar in the bathroom doorway where the tiles met the carpet of the hall. It stood about 2cm above the floor level and I kept standing on it or kicking it and it was quite painful. I had to be really mindful of that every time I used the bathroom.
Staff were great. The iPod dock in our room wasn't working when I checked in - it's a great feature of the room, especially if you're there for a concert or don't want the tv going non-stop, also doubled as phone/iPad charger. I told the reception staff about it and they sent someone to have a look the next day. It was replaced while we were out the next day.
Overall, loved this hotel and will definitely book in there on my next trip to Auckland. Perfect for concert-goers!
