We stayed in a two bedroom one bathroom apartment on the 12th floor facing the back,, The room was quiet, well appointed, clean and had a kitchenette with electric hob, fridge and microwave. We didn't cook but had breakfast there and it was fine. The room has air conditioing in the living are but not eh bedrooms. There is also an in room safe and communal laundry facilites (not in room). Internet is charged at $8 per day for 1Gb and goes up from there - you can buy for a whole week, Notice I say internet and not WiFi - if you want WiFi you need to get a router from reception and the weekend I was there they were all given out. So I had to use the ethernet cable that they supply in the room and didn't have WiFi for the 2 days we were there. Funnily enough whoever stayed in the room before me had bought a one week internet package and I was allowed to use the rest of the remaining allowance and didn't have to pay for internet usage - so check before you buy!

The reception staff were friendly and immediately attended to any requests we had and even helped us load our car in the morning. So overall it was a pleasant and comfortable stay apart from one thing.....the car parking. There is limited car parking on site and you need to reserve in advance - I did but even so the spaces were all gone. The hotel is on the main street and you cannot stop outside the hotel. You need to pull into the alleyway by the hotel which leads to their limited car park spaces. This alleyway is tight and you need to pull in far left to allow users of the car park to get in and out. Also if more than 2 people are checking in then the alley is full. Once you have unloaded your luggage and checked in, you need to move your car immediately. Luckily I arrived late on Saturday night and was checking out Monday morning at 7am. So between those hours you can park on Emily Place (just behind the hotel) at the meters for free. But check which bays you park in as some are residents only and don't stray into the CBD where the meters are active until 10pm 7 days a week. If you're not lucky enough to arrive at that time of the week you then have to park at a car park 5 minutes away which is not exactly handy. The other snag I encountered was that I arrived on the evening of a concert at Vector Arena so finding a spot was a nightmare and I ended up having to park 1 kilometer away.

For me the car park challenge was not an issue as I had time to spare but be warned that this is a problem. Otherwise it s a comfortable pleasant hotel with good facilities.

The outside of the building is unassuming and camouflaged, and the lobby has a bit of a shabby chic feel going on. The two executive studio apartments that we rented however were bright and shiny and new and wonderful. There was so much space - a study, full kitchen, dining table, couch, separated bedroom, balcony and a large bathroom. The hotel was just across the road from the shopping district and waterfront with loads of eating options and a huge supermarket. Highly recommended base to explore Auckland.

Dear Janet D,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.. A number of our guests comment on parking both positive & negative. Parking onsite does allow guests to unload & walk into either tower with ease & have piece of mind that cars are totally secure. We are pleased you enjoyed the space of your apartment and we look forward to welcoming you in future. Kind regards Kirsty Denyer

We rented a 2 bedroom appartment for a couple of nights and were pleased with the quality and tidyness of the appartment. Access is a bit painfull via a small side road with heavy slope and stairs, so unloading/loading the luggage was a bit of a struggle. The hotel is walking distance from teh city centre, even with 3 little kids.

My wife and I stayed for four nights in a luxury 2 bedroom apartment while on holiday in the Auckland City. I also regularly travel for business and was thoroughly impressed with this 'boutique' style hotel with excellent service, rooms and amenities.
The location is great with just a few minutes walk to the restaurants and bars in the Viaduct precinct and only about 6 minutes walk to Queen Street..
In particular we enjoyed the apartment layout and level of comfort and space. Concierge staff were always willing, attentive and knowledgable; and the pool & gym in the adjoin Waldorf are great .We agree we will definitely be back and in my view this is the best overall luxury hotel in Auckland at this time.
Well done to the Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour

Terrific short stay apartments very close to the harbour, marina and shopping. Great value. Easy access to restaurants, shops and supermarkets. No fuss service with urban functional building design, modern fittings and furniture makes a nice change from your usual hotel. All the family were very happy.

Room Tip: High floors have less road noise, but sound insulation is generally good..
