“Great apartments esp for Vector Arena”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013 via mobile

Me and my 2 sisters stayed here in November for the Nicki Minaj concert. I chose the location purely on its distance from Vector. Booked at the end of August a 2 bedroom apartment which was probably priced slightly up due to there being an event as most hotels probably had done. I agree with one review below regarding the need for a secure booking facility online on their website, hence I rung instead to make booking rather than "risk" my cc details online.
When we arrived at hotel the check in was prompt and also asked how many keys required. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom junior suite which was huge! The balcony was insanely big and was pretty much the size of the living area. The apartments were very modern and equipped with a kitchenette with basics needed for cooking, big dining table, a large L-size couch, desk and bedrooms were decent size too with a wardrobe each and a tiny vault. Bathroom was modern and had ample face, hand and bath towels, toilet & tissue paper, soap dispensers, hair dryer. Apartment pretty much had everything you need!
We stayed for 2 nights - Fri & Sat and found location to be quite handy from Queen St, Viaduct and lots of food places around, theres even a liquor store on the corner. On the night of the concert, there were people partying up a few balconies above us and had some booze get tl our balcony. We didn't want to be penalize for seeming like we littered ourselves so on our way out told the reception person who checked out the situation and made sure he knew what room it was. Definitely commend him for doing this and liked the fact they stick to their no party policy. The next day our flight is later on the afternoon and they allowed us to store our luggage at no cost and also ordered us a cab to airport for $35 which was a good deal.
Will stay here again if need arises ie concert at Vector.

We stayed here since we stayed in other Waldorf hotels in the past. However, the staff and the hotel was disappointing. First night we could not sleep since a fan was continuously working. we called the reception by dialing zero (as instructed in the room book) but nobody picked up the phone (or zero was not working). When we reported it in the morning to the reception they told us that the key (the card) should have be removed from the slot that powers up the room. This is great.....when the card is removed from the slot, the power is switched off and you have to find your way in complete darkness and you cannot read your book in your bed. Great system...
Cleaning of the room is average since you can find out places which have not been cleaned -probably- from the opening day of the hotel.
Staying here again??? No, unless it is the absolute last resort.

Room Tip: rooms facing to Anzac avenue are noisy.

We spent two nights at the Celestion Waldorf, and enjoyed our stay. The booking system - particularly if you initially go via the booking site route - was not particularly simple in our experience, and I remain curious as to why some hotels/apartments which require CC details still do not offer a secure site page for depositing details direct.

The apartment is a very short walk from the main CBD, and very close to Britomart, which is a great place to spend time. Our room was very comfortable, and was a larger one than booked, which was a great and welcome touch. We were on a higher floor, and did not hear any evening/traffic noise, and did not bring a car with us. We spoke little with staff, but our check in staff member was very professional and polite, and our check out member of staff was polite and efficient, but not exactly exuding piles of professional charm on our departure. It is worth being aware that this is an apartment accommodation offering, thus room cleaning etc on a daily basis is not certain depending upon number of nights stayed, or unless confirmed at check in - for two nights, we did not receive maid service during the middle day of the stay - this was fine with us, but clarity on this at check in or booking would have been a better look, as opposed to the infomation being squirrelled away in a guest book etc.

I would not hesitate to return to the Apartments, and would recommend the Celestion to others - a good value, modern-looking base for a short Auckland stay.

We had a superb stay at the Celestion. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom on arrival and found the apartment to be spacious and well equipped. It is a 5 minute walk to the water and the same distance to Queen Street. There is a supermarket in the next block and many restaurants close by. The service was very good. However, I do believe the internet should be free. A very pleasant introduction to NZ.

The was a really disappointing place to stay. The rooms are fine, with plenty of space would be great for a longer stay with cooking facilities and separate bedrooms.

However the service was awful. We arrived and were directed to by park in a laneway beside the hotel to unload our luggage. WE struggled to do that, while the staff - and there were plenty of them - stood around and watched. Then we struggled toget our bags across the foyer to the lift and again provided entertainment for the reception staff who didn't seem at all inclined to assist or offer us a trolly to help with our bags. Then, supposedly it was up to us to take our car off to the car park which is not a short walk from the hotel, but quite a distance away. However, we'd been parked in by another guest to the hotel, and then - the best part (not!) was the car coming the other way down the laneway and determined to get past us. When he couldn't he proceded to abuse us. We asked the reception to see if they could find out who was blocking us in, and get them to move - but apparently that;'s not part of the service either. Nor is dealing with abusive drivers who continued to abuse us.

We won't be back. I can't recommend the Celestion - unless you like providing entertainment for reception staff who are bored, impolite and not in the least bit helpful.

Room Tip: Don't stay here if you expect service and assistance from staff. You won't get it.

This hotel is perfectly situated for an easy stroll to Vector Arena but also convenient to Queen St etc. Room was fine - plenty big enough but needed basic maintenance...towel rail not screwed on, tap loose, no soap in shower etc. Bit of a let down for the price.

Our two kids and I really loved our two-bedroom suite, with a kitchenette, living room, dining area and balcony. It's right around the corner from the trendy Britomart area and we were able to walk to the ferry and sky tower in no time. The staff were very friendly and the laundry facilities were clean and convenient. Two thumbs up!
