“Milestone Tours takes you to special places.”

We toured with Gavin the end of February and he did his best to show us places off the beaten path where the "big buses" don't go. We saw (and participated in) a sheep show at a small, family-owned farm. We walked through a native forest to see what New Zealand used to look like. The glass-bottom boat ride was a unique experience and concentrated on education and conservation instead of feeding fish to appease the tourists. We skipped the "big city" and loved exploring the countryside with him. He was very friendly, eager to please and proud to show us his country.

“Simply wonderful, a holiday highlight”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2010

We booked a tour with Milestone for the first full day of our holiday and were so pleased with the service we got from the guide, Gavin, that we rebooked for another tour later in our holiday. We first went to Matakana region and afterwards the west coast rainforest area - with a really romantic swin in a waterfall!

We hoped that by using a tour company we'd see things that only a local would know about and this is just what we experienced. The service from first Gavin and then Heath on the second tour was just great, very personal, not at all rushed, humourous, just great. We were also really pleased to hit it off so well with the other people on the tours which just added to our enjoyment.

What more can be said that other reviewers haven't already summed up? These guys are super professional, great fun and really passionate. We had a blast and would definitely use Milestone again if we ever get back to New Zealand.

“The greatest bang for your buck - happy to recommend to others”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2010

We were taken to Waitomo Caves and the glow worm cave, Lake Taupo, Huka Falls, Wai-o-tapu and volcano activity in surrounding area, Rotorua, and lake Rotoru ,also a tour of the living Maori village at Whakarewarew and a taste of their music and dancing in a stage performance. We were taken to all these places with individual tours in each attraction. Definitely bring your camera and walking shoes. Plenty of time for rest stops and food stops. We had the very best driver and tour guide for the two days of travelling in between the various attractions and wonderful overnight accommodation.

“Fantastic guides and Itineraries”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2010

Our group of 18 from the USA spent two days touring with Milestone Tours. It was by far the best we had on our trip of 21 days. Gavin and his team helped us plan two full days in the Auckland area including sightseeing, snorkeling, glow-worm caves, wine-tasting, and much more. We were easily able to plan everything prior to our arrival via the internet and telephone. They were most accommodating to our needs as well as being flexible on the days of the tours for any changes we might enjoy. Their itinerary planning was excellent, they were always on schedule with a full day of activities, and provided informative as well as humorous commentary. I definitely recommend using their services when you are in the Auckland area - there is no better!

“I trusted the very last day of my "dream vacations" in beautiful New Zealand to Milestone Tours and was totally happy!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2010

My husband and I have been on a 18-day trip through both Australia and New Zealand with a large group of 40 people finshing in Auckland. So, once we did have a couple of days left before ending our vacations, we decided to stay 2 days longer and "explore" a bit more of the "off tourist" routes in Auckland surroundings.

From the main tourist info center we easily booked day-trips east and west of the city in small enough groups hoping for some flexibilty in schedules and real "inside information" for a change! And Milestone Tours sure did the trick! They picked us up from our hotel on time on a very comfortable and neat van and took us on this eye-widening day-trip where we got to see cute small towns filled with local artcraft, taste some nice bites and drinks, enjoy bush walks where we found out all about the majestic kauri tree and "national symbol" silver ferns, and even a "customized" wine tasting session, a special request promptly fulfilled as we booked our "flexible itinerary"!

Milestone Tours is a family-run business and these guys seem to be on a permanent good mood and more than happy to show us "gringos" all their special places fitting the tour time! We've even got time for this nice lazy stop for a sip of the local beer in this tiny charming town which I'd bet lies on very few people's routes! Our guide was ready to fill us in on a whole bunch of curiosities and all kinds of interesting facts and tips about the city and its surroundings. Definitely makes us leave eager for more, much more! :)

Highlights were the winery estate, the glass bottom boat ride (watching reefs, caves and starfishes!) and the capuccino at the spanish-guys' recently oppened bistro! But this last one you'll have to look up and find out for yourselves! ;-) Check out the pics!
