The abundance of cafes and restaurants in the area is making it a very attractive place for a stroll in the sun or a Sunday brunch or dinner, or some of the excellent coffee now available in this country. Admiring the numerous local and overseas yachts of various sizes from the super duper to the humble two-man . Soon there will be the Americas Cup activity. On one side there is the Auckland City skyline and the other the deep blue harbour, and you might even see a multi-million dollar (or should that be billion) super pleasure craft of some Russian businessman. Or maybe some little Maori boys swimming in the area of their whare.

Wynyard Quarter is an area on the waterfront overlooking Waitamata Bay that was once a tank farm and Port area and it has slowly been redeveloped and now houses restaurants and apartments and is a pleasant place to stroll with still some improvement potential.

Had a very pleasant walk from downtown to Wynyard Quarter and back. Very nice but a lot of construction going on.

I have never had much luck with food in this area of Auckland despite being a large area with options. What I do enjoy doing is walking over the bridge from the Viaduct to Wynyard Quarter and back again. There are boats to look at, restaurants, places to sit/lie, you can even swim off the steps. It is really quiet over the winter. So a pleasant place but don't expect a pumping noisy Darling Harbour.

This area is a great place to stroll on a sunny day. You can walk along past the super yachts to a small, rather tree-less park with seats. It needs more greenery planted. Lots of restaurants to choose from.
