Description: Bellota is the Spanish word for acorn and it's the acorn that plays an essential part in the creation of one of the world's most prized delicacies - Jamón Ibérico de Bellota (literally Iberian ham of acorns). The Iberian pig used to live all over Spain, Portugal and many parts of the Mediterranean, but due to the decline in its natural habitat, the dehesa (oak forests), they are scarce - and needless to say - incredibly expensive. They're also very smart pigs. We want you to have as authentic a tapas experience as you'll find in Auckland. Our head chef Ernest Pietx is from Barcelona and he is always updating the menu with seasonal twists. Our wine list is exclusively Spanish. We source many of the wines ourselves from little-known producers. Bellota's front of house is run by Chilean born Carlos Delgado and consists of a mixture of lovely and bubbly people, many with Latin and Spanish roots. Saludos y disfrute Peter Gordon

Wandered into Bellota since it was so convenient to the Sky City Grand and we didn't want to walk too far after spending the day walking around Auckland. What a wonderful find, lovely, generous sized small plates of delicious Spanish cuisine. Great service and the offerings of lamb ribs, prawns, fried goat cheese(yum), Serrano ham with asparagus and the olive plate were all delicious and well displayed on their plates. We left Auckland the next day and regret not having an opportunity to return to Bellota to sample more dishes. Highly recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I went to this restaurant with some friends for late dinner on Thurs 20 March. The tapas selection was great - we had the sauteed prawns, braised beef cheeks (excellent), and the pimientos (pepper) filled with fish & prawns, which we were so impressed by we ordered it again - it was stunning. My girlfriend and I drank a rose/merlot which was excellent. We sat outside that night, but although there were roadworks outside, and a cool breeze at the time, it was a fabulous place to be. We went there again on Sat 22 March to finish off a night out with some Espresso Martinis which were awesome. Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant/bar to anyone visiting the SkyCity precinct.

We want to go somewhere where we could just have a quick bite. This place is fantastic. Huge serves of tapas plates, great flavours and wines. Beautiful staff who are so friendly . One if the best tapas places we have been too. A must do if you want a great and very reasonably priced dinner .

We were a small group of 3 and were greeted and sat promptly. We ordered each of the Sangria options and were delighted by the two white wine options, and the red wine sangria was not bad either. We then sampled plenty of plates ordered an additional bottle of wine, a couple of spanish coffees and still were able to end the night with full bellies, smiles on our faces and it didn't break the bank! Would highly recommend checking this place out.

Stumbled across this tapas bar when so many others were closed on a Sunday evening in Auckland. Friendly, helpful service and an easy but interesting tapas menu. We enjoyed warm roasted olives, prawns, beef cheeks, and chorizo. Nice booths to sit in and talk.
