We booked at this property because of the reviews we read here. We were disappointed.

Although it is only a 10 minute walk to the main part of town, it's a walk through a seedy area (homeless shelter and liquor store right across the street, etc.)

The rooms were the smallest we found in any of the 8 properties we visited in New Zealand. It was also rather cold.

We would NOT stay here again. We will return to the Hyatt, where we stayed earlier in our trip.

Thank-you for your valuable feedback and we do apologise for your experience. We have different types of rooms available which are larger and with better amenities, we would be pleased to offer you a free upgrade next time you book with us.

We are actively addressing the room temperature issue by having extra in room blankets as well as other facilities like fan heaters & draft stoppers available on request.

The Auckland City Mission is a place for the homeless to be able to participate in different activities like chess, watch tv etc. Although they do not provide set meals, they would provide to them any food donated on the day.

They have changed their opening policies to minimise queues outside the building and thus the effect on pedestrians. They are also in the planning stages of a brand new building to provide bettter services to the under-privileged (and better contained) as well as improving the surrounding environment with a park.

We do apologise for any inconvenience to our guests and hope for their understanding in support of the Mission's noble cause.

After a long flight from the states, an expensive taxi from the airport, this was a welcome stay. Room was clean, modern and well located. Great value for the money. Would reccomend.

DO NOT TAKE A TAX!. Unless you feel like dropping $85nz . Go to the Information desk at the airport and they will get you on the shuttle ($32nz)

On the negative, it is across the street from the homeless mission. But no problems at all. In fact we made a monetary donation, which was sincerely appreciated.

When I booked this hotel over the phone I was a bit weary of what they weren't telling me. It looked nice on their website, the location seemed good, but it was cheap. Well, it was all true. We stayed here after arriving from the UK and before setting out on a camper trip across NZ. The rooms were spacious, clean and well decorated. We had lots of space to repack our bags before setting out in a van for 10 days. The reception was very friendly and helped us find a place to park our camper because it wouldn't necessarily fit into their parking garage. It was within walking distance of all of downtown Auckland.

The hotel and the room was definately very nice. We were upgraded from a Superior Queen to a Superior King when we arrived. However, the room was very cold and the heater didn't actually help that much... My fiance also complained about the lack of conditioner in the shower... The location is good and the staff was very friendly. If I'm going back, it has to be in the summer :) brrr....

Thank-you for your valuable feedback. As for the temperature of our rooms during winter, this can be addressed by a draft-stopper which we have available from our reception as our ventilation system tends to pull in a lot of air through underneath the main door. Once this is done, the heaters would then be much more effective. Extra blankets/fan heaters are also available on request, thanks.

We spent 2 nights here before travelling round New Zealand and it was central enough to walk to everything we wanted to do. It was convenient for K Road, Ponsonby and Parnell and within walking distance of the museum and the waterfront.
The room was samll but very nicely appointed with a stylish bathroom. Would recommend this to anyone. We had breakfast on the corber of K Road so can't comment on the food at the hotel.

We've just came back to Europe after 6 weeks in NZ. Auckland City Hotel was our last stop before going back home. We were tired after campervanning and were very happy when we've seen small/huge hotel, with great rooms (equipped with kitchen - very important when you have a 2 years old baby), great bedroom, great hospitality. Staff is grear and probably they have people from every part of the world (not from Poland unfortunately but they will improve for sure).
If you want to spend $NZ100/night and dont expect Westin/Hilton luxuries this is the place to stay.

We had several issues with this hotel, the worst of which was finding a used condom underneath our bed. We told the front desk about it, and all they had to say was sorry, and they didn't seem to think it was a big deal. The bathroom stunk of sewage, the internet did not work the entire time we were there, our phone only worked part of the time, and we had we had a random person join us in the elevator and follow us to our room, only to turn around after watching us walk in. We also had issues with checking out where they had all of our details mixed up with the person staying in the room next to ours. We opted for this hotel because it was close to the sky tower, so we assumed it was a good location, which that was not the case either, note the random person following us up to our floor. The hotel looks as though it's been recently remodeled, and the rate is very affordable (please note parkiing is an additional $25 per night), but it was definitely not worth coming face to face with a used condom while making sure we had all of our belongings, and showering in a bathroom that stunk so bad you didn't even feel clean after coming out of it.

Thank-you for your feedback as it will allow us to identify our short-comings and address them. We sincerely apologise for your experience with us.

We have reprimanded the cleaning as well as the front office staff involved, as we continue to strive for a high standard of cleanliness and customer service.

We have discovered that a building cable fault has caused the internet problem while a plumbing one caused the smell. We will be more viligilant in identifying faults before our guests in the future.

Please inform our front office staff anytime you are having problems with your room so that we can either try and rectify them immediately or upgrade/move rooms (if available), thanks.
