“Our afternoon of history flew by.....fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2013

we opted to do the whole program - guided tour, grounds, and cultural performance. How fascinating to learn more about the Maori and British treaty (and how the Maori were tricked into signing). The guided tour was excellent, the treaty house full of interesting rooms and explanations of what was happening in the 1840"s, and the war canoe were most impressive. The Waitangi cultural performance was a real highlight of our day and we were intrigued to learn about the different movements, songs and meaning of each. What a great group of performers!!! Such a great day!!

“Truly wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

Don't go to the Bay of Islands without going to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. It's an absolute must! If you can, take a tour because you will learn so much more than you will just wandering around. There is enough to keep you busy for 3-4 hours but you can enjoy whatever time you spend there and you will come away amazed and inspired about the shared history of the Maori and the British settlers.

“Great Maori Show”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

We were lucky to see a Maori Cultural Show at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.
The young artists were excellent, witty and highly entertaining. We recommend this show to all tourists and New Zealanders who come by this part of the country.
The Show is definitely worth it.

One down side is the cost ... like pretty much everything thing in NZ remotely linked to tourism ... again it is expensive: $40 for non NZ for entry and show and $15 for NZ or NZ residents.

“Treaty House Surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

Don't miss the chance to experience the Maori performance in the Treaty House... we almost missed it but for the courtesy of the Maori guide who ushered us in at the last moment.
It's an interactive experience involving you the audience... including the Maori nose to nose greeting! We made a promise to that guide, that on returning home back to the UK we would make a review... so.. this we are pleased to do. Enjoy!!!

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013 via mobile

This was on our must visit list but we were left feeling disappointed. As English.NT members why do we have to.pay $25? Also.we wanted a guided tour but couldn't unless we payed for cultural show too. Film was good but we felt there could be more exhibits about the wars that followed and perhaps a timeline to today and how relations are. All.the money seems to.have gone on the loos. What we saw of the maori display was not as good as in Roturua.
