Based on the reviews on Trip Adviser I decided to take my wife on her birthday on 17 Oct 2013 to dinner at Perugino with my two teenage daughters. My wife is a vegetarian.

We were very warmly greeted by a young waitress and seated. The ambiance was nice though atmosphere a bit formal and stiff. We browsed through the menu only to find that the choices for vegetarians were extremely limited.

The elderly lady who we later discovered happened to be wife of the Chef and the owner Giuseppe came to take our orders. She was supercilious right from the word go.

Of very limited vegetarian choices nothing could really interest my wife and we were taking some time. The lady suddenly snapped and shut the menu on my wife’s face saying that vegetarians should be flexible and we should in fact have gone to a vegetarian restaurant rather than coming to an Italian restaurant. We could not believe what we just heard and decided to leave. I politely asked her why she was being so rude with us.

She escorted our family to the door and we could not have in wildest dream imagined what happened next. She stood in the lobby and pointed her hand towards the door saying “Now I am being rude-OUT”, repeating it twice.

All of us went numb with feeling of shock mixed with rage not able to believe this was actually happening to us that too in a restaurant that prides itself on being a premium Italian restaurant.
We walked out of the door still not able to fully comprehend the reason for this complete humiliation. Outside the restaurant we were speechless for minutes trying to make sense of what we just went through.

We went to another restaurant where we were treated with warmth and respect that is due to guests and had very fulfilling meal. However despite trying hard we were not able to get over the sheer humiliation we had faced.

We decided to go back to the restaurant to see the owner and seek an apology from the lady. We left our daughters in the car as they were badly shaken by the experience.

We met Giuseppe the owner who heard us very patiently and appeared anguished but completely helpless in asking her overbearing wife to apologise to guests whom she had so badly humiliated as if they were a bunch of beggars. We asked him what did we do to deserve such humiliation and crass behavior but he had no answer.

This to date has been the worst ever experience that we as a family have ever faced in our lives that too on the special day of my wife’s birthday.

If it happened with us it could happen with you. Read carefully the reviews from others about owners wife and her extremely rude behavior.

Such people have no right to be in hospitality industry that has it foundations on courtesy and aims for customer delight.

First visit to Perth and what a great find! Professional service; nice and cozy atmosphere; and great, honest food. We had grilled asparagus (in season -- yum!) with crispy prosciutto and gorgonzola sauce for entree, duck confit and beef cheek for main, and tiramisu (very authentic) for dessert. Dessert was expensive for its portion and the way it's served, but taste absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to go again.

We went here as a party of 4, 2 of us vegetarian. It was quite a challenge to get the vegetarian order accepted by the elderly waitress who in a very intimidating tone told us what would be good for us and what not. With some pain she agreed on an order of gnocchi as entree and mushrooms at mains. The others ate salmon and meat. We had some great wine. The male younger staff and one younger waitress were very friendly and helpful but one could not help himself looking regularly over the shoulder to see if the lady was also around.
All in all a successful evening with an amazing choice of dessert.
Recommended.

Owner was very gracious and explained their philosophy was to serve truly authentic Italian cuisine. We were not disappointed and we know our Italian having spent several weeks there each year for the past decade. Bellissimo!

Well we will give you a rough idea of who we are first. We have eaten at some beautiful and well known restaurants in the world, we have travelled extensively and really enjoy many different cuisines. Perth has many fine restaurants but this is NOT one of them. Firstly the owner came around with the specials which honestly sounded lovely, we ordered the artichoke stuffed with breadcrumbs and the ravioli stuffed with crayfish and prawns. Both were below average the artichokes outer leaves were tough in edible and should of been removed and the prawn pieces were totally overlooked and the pasta had no taste of crayfish whatsoever. Then came the mains, my partner ordered the baby roasted goat leg which should in theory fall off the bone, well we can honestly say it was unable even to be chewed let alone cut, he gave me some to try,I actually had to spit it back out because I could not swallow it. I had ordered the mains special which was the lamb rack, well no slight pink juices here either just a tasteless crumbed rack that was totally overcooked. The classic point in all of this is when the owner finally noticed that we had not eaten our meals she asked what was wrong, we politely said that the meat was too dry and tough and suggested that the chef should try it for himself to which she replied he never try's the food!!!!!!!!!
WHAT!!!!!!!! She did not even take our plates to the kitchen but left us sitting there with our plates still in front of us, she did not apologize at all. We paid the bill which was $121 and left. Honestly don't waste your money how this restaurant is in the top ten we have no idea, go somewhere else where the food is tasty and cooked properly. Barbara& Matt perth.
