After much anticipation, we arrived to 'enjoy' what was meant to be a lovely and special evening at Amphoras. Well, how disappointed we were! Despite booking well in advance and receiving numerous confirmations, we arrived to find the staff had no advice as to our arrival. It would appear we were lucky it was a Wednesday night and they were 'still' able to accomodate us - however from the reaction of the staff it seemed seemed like a real hassle! (I carried with me the confirmation email of our booking - in my opinion this was the only reason they accommodated us, despite having numerous empty tables and only one reservation in their book).
The disappointments only continued as the wine list was presented to us, significantly lacking context.
The tapas menu we were handed was different to that presented on their website, smaller and less electrifying. We managed to find (only) three items that tickled our fancy, however other than the haloumi (which was surprisingly delectable, despite the chefs attempts at ruining the flavours by battering and deep frying), the remainders were incredibly awful.
The service was average - no more, no less. The staff were rather minimally personable. They certainly were not willing to go the extra mile - in fact, there weren't even willing to call us a taxi (apologies, they did the third time we asked - after waiting more than 45 minutes and explaining we were cutting it close to catch our flight out of Perth).
My recommendation would be to find somewhere else to eat, unless your intention is a rather casual but incredibly expensive meal.
