We went with friends for the degustation meal. Pretty well perfect. The food was of very high standard - venison highly recommended - and the matching wines of good quality and with generous pouring. However, top marks go to the fantastic staff - nothing too much trouble and everything calm with a smile. Timing great, evening great - such a pleasing experience.

Thank Peter H

My wife and I had been to this restaurant over a year ago and had been impressed by the quality of food. Expensive but worth it then. Recently, however, we took friends there and were disappointed with both the food and the service. Our waitress volunteered she new nothing about wine and although the sommelier was helpful in helping us choose a wine, it was up to the waitress to serve it after that. She didn't return to refill glasses and had to be called over. Then she didn't pour the remaining wine evenly, instead two of us received almost full glasses and two received none! Although our entrees were excellent, for mains two of our party had overcooked beef and overcooked and dry fish. The deserts were good. Having felt let down (and a little embarrassed as we had told our guests how good we thought the restaurant would be), we emailed the restaurant afterwards letting them know our feelings but unfortunately they never replied.

Celebrating our 11th year wedding anniversary at Opus March 15th was an excellent idea. It was our first time there after researching info for fine dining in Perth. I believe we made the perfect choice.

Our server was attentive and engaging, the atmosphere was intimate, elegant yet relaxed. Most importantly the oysters were fresh and delicious, the Beef Fillet & Steak mains were excellent, the cheery coconut soufflé with cappuccino a sweet ending.

The Richardon's is located on a very quiet and empty street at night, perfect if you want to be "away" for a while.

Opus has got to be the best in fine dining Perth has to offer.

Located at The Richardson Hotel & Spa and nestled within a pleasantly quiet neighborhood, Opus truly lived up to its name (which by the way is splashed all over internet reviews and google searches - says a lot about its popularity with customers!). So, you'll need to make reservations in advance to ensure seating.

The maître d and other service staff were mostly French and spoke with an unmistakable accent that added to the ambience and blended really well with the posh, velvety interior. They were hospitable and friendly but unobtrusive, chatty when necessary but mindful of maintaining comfortable distances so that guests are given the quiet space to savor their food with minimal bustle.

Instead of going with mains, my wife and I decided to settle for the degustation menu. After all, we reasoned this is probably the best way to try a variety of dishes (served in small appetizer portions) and get a flavor of the diverse abilities of the chef (s) in handling varying styles, textures, and food combinations. And we were glad to have made that choice.

Every bite we took was just incredibly packed with flavors and freshness. From the medium rare veal to the Tasmanian trout lightly cooked on a pre-heated stone and the creamy wild mushroom cappuccino, every item was just wonderful little morsels of perfected goodness. To top it all off, dinner ended on a sweet note with cinnamon donuts accompanied by (I think it's caramel) ice cream and decorated with an unusually paper-thin slice of strawberry compress.

While the photos don't do justice to this review due to low-light conditions, the degustation menu averaging A$135 per pax is certainly worth trying.

There is nothing to dislike, the quality and quantity is excellent.
Very creative chef, and a good wine selection. The service is above five star.
