I always love to eat good, clean, simple and delicious food at Annalakshmi. I love the philosophy and the sense of community especially when I see lawyers and businessmen from St Georges Tce eat alongside the homeless and everyone is smiling. Pay what you feel/what you can or just come and be nourished if you need it. we always pay a bit extra to keep Annalakshmi around for those who really need it. The other highlight is the incredible location, especially at night on the deck looking up at Kings Park.

Quoting from centuries old Sanskrit text, "Athithi Devo Bhava" - meaning - Guests are form of God - This restaurant perfectly practices this statement. The voluntary service and the motto behind running this restaurant makes this dining experience a divine one. The style of food is buffet type and basically in "all you can eat" mode. At the end, you can pay for what you feel the food is worth - and this makes this restaurant totally different and stands out due to its motives.

The restaurant is neatly maintained and run by volunteers. From what I've seen & felt, the volunteers put their motto into practice, share a gentle smile - and serve you the food. All the proceeds from the restaurant is spent on non profit activities. Not only you get food, but also have an opportunity to help for a cause, indirectly.

The restaurant is situated right in the middle of the city and overlooks Swan river. The view is astounding from first floor and the restaurant is well lit and bright - with divine traditional Indian music on the background, Since this is run by volunteers, the environment is more a family friendly one. You could even see some kids of different age group - with their parents, participating in this great voluntary work.

Overall, the food is very much home-made, plain vegetarian food with different varieties on different days. If you travel by car, park your car at Perth City Parking for a nominal fee across the road. Parking spaces are usually limited and at times time taking to find a spot.

On an end note, visit this restaurant and I am sure you will feel great and have had a wonderful experience.

The greeters are always smiling and offer you a seat (if they have one) even if you haven't booked. The food is not only perfectly cooked but it is vegetarian and leaves you feeling full but not lazy or heavy. This is energy food. The view is amazing over the river and the price is reasonable since you give them what you think you believe the dining experience is worth. Romantic views, healthy and energising food, friendly staff and n amazing payment/price system.

Eating here offers a wonderful experience, the setting on the waterfront is beautiful and the food is delicious. Its a buffet style and you pay by donation, the food is worth a generous donation. It is all vegetarian but they offer a good selection of dishes and I defy any meat lover to not enjoy them. I have also been to a fund raising event here and it was spectacular, traditional indian musicians and dancers performed after the meal and they were superb. I recommend booking as it is always busy.

But please don't be tight!

Its a great location right on the river and the three buffet vegetarian Southern Indian style dishes are always pungent and tasty.

Its a very worthwhile enterprise and for me is a very welcome part of the Perth dining scene.

Note its limited opening hours though.
