We had low expectations from reading reviews and were prepared for an expensive evening and not so great food.
The tempura, coated in a light, fluffy batter was delicious to start with. Then it all went downhill from there.
My minute portion of salmon was small, thin and crispy, full of oil. My partner's was plump and juicy (did they run out and give me the leftovers??). The beef and chicken were salty and the rice gluggy, though the miso soup was very pleasant.
The chef was entertaining in his tricks and the saving grace for the evening was him being able to write messages to us in salt on the hotplate....he created a birthday cake out of salt and set it on fire for the birthday boy. The chef flicking prawn heads into guests mouths was also fun to watch.
I would go again for the entertaining experience if they reviewed their menus and did a bit of taste testing themselves prior to serving guests.
