I had the pleasure of staying at the Medina Executive Barrack Plaza for 3 nights in September. I had booked my room via hotels.com (1 bedroom) and when I arrived (prior to 2pm) the reception staff were most accommodating and informed me I had been upgraded. This was just wonderful and I found myself on the top floor of the Medina with a panoramic view over Perth city. I could see right down to the Swan River. Although my room faced onto Barrack Street , which is a one way street ,the windows kept the noise out.
The apartment was excellent with a well appointed kitchen with dishwasher, large fridge, microwave and stove. Word to the wise is watch your toes as you open the cupboards in the kitchen. The door was very close to the floor and many times my toes got caught on the way through..a painful experience.
The bed was very comfortable and both bedroom and lounge room had flat screen TVs with a range of television options. Lounge and chairs were also most comfortable and it was great watching the sunset over Perth. I ventured out onto the balcony a few times but not being one that likes heights I felt it was best to view from the safety of the lounge area.
Room service was excellent and the food was just delightful!!! (and very speedy).I availed myself of this service and was very impressed.

The staff in the hotel were always ready with a smile and a greeting and it made my stay so very pleasant. Murray Street Mall is one street down from the hotel, and Woolworths is located here(supermarket-great to get the food you need for your stay) also a myriad of small resturants and all the major shops.
The CAT (free bus service) runs right outside the main door of the hotel (Green CAT) and the yellow CAT s one street up...so location, ease of travel around the city, staff and the very pleasant ambience of the hotel would mean that I would recommend it for all who wish to stay close to the heart of Perth.

This is not the hotel fault but if you wish to get a taxi ask the hotel to ring for one. One morning 8 taxis were called by 4 different people and the only taxi that turned up was the one the hotel rang for.....maybe a problem as Barrack Street is a one way street but just a good point to note.

I am always doubtful of online reviews, "tripadvisor" seems to prove the exception.

A business colleague and I had to travel to Perth for 10 days with a stay in the city of over a week. We had heard about the Medina from associates, saw the website, and the consensus of opinions on the review sites was that it was a good place to stay. Well they were absolutely right.

We arrived via a series of long and delayed flights, tired and ready to rest up for business meetings the next morning. We were checked straight in to the apartment we were booked into on the 9 th floor.

Everything was exactly as described, clean modern, well equipped and spacious apartments, extremely handy to all forms of public transport and at most a 10 minute walk from almost any part of the city business district. It was also well located to shops, super-markets, restaurants, and all other necessary amenities for tourists or business travellers.

The stand-out point of this place was not so much all the above however, it was the service given by everyone from the front desk and housekeeping through to the management. Nothing was too difficult, service was always with a smile, no matter what was required it was done without fuss and willingly. When one has a tight business schedule and several matters to attend to this kind of assistance is invaluable. I could not fault anything about the place or any of the staff I encountered.

I have been a little delayed in posting this review, I have never given one before. I think the time delay has made my impression of the Medina even better, since I stayed in July I have travelled elsewhere on business and stayed in some very glamorous "5 star, luxe de luxe" places which simply couldn't hold a candle to the service and experience of my stay at Medina.

I will be travelling fairly frequently to Perth in the coming years and propose to make this place my regular accommodation when there. If you are looking for a place with marble bathrooms, gold taps, 6 star restaurants, swimming pools and gymnasia on every floor, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a place as described in the above review, with quite outstanding service, comfort and convenience, it definitely fits the bill.

I am always a little doubtful about online reviews, "tripadvisor" seems to be the exception.

A business colleague and I had to stay in Perth for a week, so we looked up hotels and serviced apartments on several sites. The Medina Executive Barrack Plaza seemed to meet our requirements, well positioned, spacious and well equipped comfortable serviced apartments was the consensus opinion of reviews.

After a long series of flights it is always a great pleasure to be pleasantly surprised that everything you have read is accurate when arriving at a destination tired and ready for rest. We were booked into an apartment on Level 9, everything I had read was correct.

The bonus to add to this was that all the staff, from front desk, housekeeping, and management were exceptionally helpful and understanding of all our requirements. At a time when one is trying to complete multiple business matters at once this can be an enormous bonus. I have stayed in some of Perth's other more expensive and luxurious hotels on previous visits and not found the service equal to that received at the Medina Executive Barrack Plaza, in fact, giving the whole experience some reflection, I think it is one of the better places I have stayed anywhere. Don't expect marble bathrooms with gold taps, health spas and pools and gymnasia on every floor, it isn't aimed at that market, nor should it be, there are plenty of other places like that.

Exceptionally helpful and efficient staff (who were always smiling); clean, comfortable, well equipped and modern apartments with plenty of space; handy to all the essentials, including the train and bus networks and not more than about 8 minutes walk from any part of the town; if this is what you are looking for I can't think of anywhere better. I will be returning to Perth and intend to make this place my regular accommodation when there.

I haven't ever bothered to write an online review before, I was simply so impressed and pleasantly surprised that I decided to do so this time. It has taken me a little while to get around to writing this review as I have been elsewhere in other places since, (some 5 star "luxe de luxe"), many of which simply couldn't hold a candle to the overall comfort and service at Medina Executive Barrack Plaza.

My family stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, premier apartment, which we found to be acceptable for all our needs. The overall apartment experience was let down by the view, which was over the back of the building, car parks and rusty old buildings etc. The staff were very heplfull and attended to our requests promptly. The location of the apartments, while very central to the Perth shopping malls, is not that appropriate for families. It reminded me of a bustling chinatown, with the occasional homeless person, porn shops and lots of traffic. I would not stay there again, but would choose a place that had a view over the magnificent river.

My partner and I stayed at the MEBP for 2 weeks in June. Overall we were really pleased with the experience and would defiinitely stay there again.

Location cannot be beat. It is so central and so convenient to the city centre, shopping, the Swan river, train station and there is a Woolworths supermarket 3 mins walk away which is a bonus for stocking up on groceries without having to pay deli/minimart prices.

We stayed in a one bedroom apt on the 5th floor overlooking the carpark. No problems with cleanliness. Modern, nicely furnished, good sized rooms and very well equipped in the kitchen. Fresh milk in the fridge (instead of UHT) on arrival was great for a nice cuppa. The bathroom well set out, lots of space to spread out your own toiletries and cosmetics (for the ladies). Decent washer and dryer. Proper hairdryer provided (not the attached-to-the-wall variety). The bed was comfortable with good pillows and crisp white sheets. The flat screen TV in the bedroom was a great size. Glad to see there was a safe in the wardrobe to store valuables.

The gym has 2 treadmills, fit balls, some freeweights and a weights machine, tv and stereo for entertainment. Didn't try the pool which is accessed through the gym since it was the middle of winter, but the staff say it is heated. Pool towels provided and change rooms/ showers clean.

Staff friendly and helpful, no complaints there.

My only gripes concern cars and if you have hired one like we did. A few things that you should be aware of..
1. If you have a car, re-confirm that you need a carpark ($16.50 per night). We told our travel agent who booked the accomodation and somehow this info was mislaid resulting in our having to use public carparking around the corner for the first 2 nights (at $25 a night). There are also very limited spaces available and there were some nights when when all the parks were full and we had to park in 'emergency/overflow' parking.
2. The apartment's entry/lobby are can be easy to miss and when you arrive, and unload your luggage, there is not designated parking available at the front of lobby, only a 5min public parking along the street (which allows 3-4 cars). This area was full of cars on most occasions, and very few adhered to the 5min rule (which is not 'policed').
3. You can only access the carpark via Wellington St driving from the WACA end of the city. The entrance can also be hard to see. It's just after the bus stop shelter closest to Barrack-Wellington traffic lights.

Those few things aside, I would highly recommend staying here. Overall great accomodation.
