It's my very first time staying at a backpacker's place and probably my last. I stayed here for two nights in the double ensuite and i moved to a hotel. I must say it's quite decent place for backpackers as the room is clean and the location is just walking distance to the main city to shop. The only downside is that im a light sleeper and there are people who talk the entire night just behind my room and the doorway. They have a huge kitchen where you can make your own food. The price for hotels in australia is expensive and the price i paid for a backpackers is really not worth it.

This is one of the best backpackers I have stayed in so far.
The backpacker is situated in Northbridge, and we, three of us, were welcomed by Francois, a very helpful and serviceminded French, and got the key to our room without any fuzz.
The first few nights we stayed in a private 4-person room with an ensuite. Bedlinen and towels were provided and everything was very clean.
We forgot to extend our booking, and the staff did all they could so that we could stay on, this time in a 5 bed dorm. The room was big, bur more important, it was clean.
The kitchen facilities are amazing. There is a huge kitchen with gas burners and to ovens. The kitchen is tidy most of the time, and if it is not, the people living here are to blame. The staff will tidy whatever is untidy.
We only met nice people while staying at the Emperors Crown. It is quiet, the courtyard closes at night so that residents will not be disturbed by other guests. Yet, you are only a 10 minutes walk from the city center. There are some bars and resturants in the area. The staff is very friendly, they will give you tips on what to see and how to get there, and they will chat with you when you bump into them.
If I ever come back to Perth, this is where I will stay!

I was lucky enough to stay at the Emperors Crown and the coinciding Witch's Hat Backpackers in Perth. For just a few small dollars more you can live in luxury yet totally affordable accommodation. The Emperors Crown boasts a massive brand new stainless steel kitchen and is shared by the friendly cafe caterers next door. Due to food and health regulations this results in the kitchen always being clean and extremely well maintained. Clean large common rooms are shared on each floor they are each with flat-screen TV's DVD players comfortable lounges books mags etc . On the ground floor is also a cinema room complete with huge screen plush seating and x box. Dorm rooms are extremely modern, clean, and roommates friendly and respectful of your privacy. for that little bit extra or sharing Private rooms are lush and tastefully furnished ( my favorite is the one with en-suite.Large new bathrooms are shared on each floor and are cleaned daily to a very high standard. There is a large modern Internet access area in the foyer as well as food and drink machines stocked delectably. There are two Outdoor area's for social chitchat meals hanging out smoking or a few cold ones. information is easily available from the wonderful attentive reception at the front desk. This is where they also provide tourist information desk and booking service. DVDs and X box games may also be accessed here from the friendly management staff. Security is excellent requiring an after hours front door code and additional room key. Perfect location. Within walking distance to Perth's city shopping and nightlife with cosmopolitan cafes located on either side. Also just up the road there's Madcats on the corner for good party times" they are also Perth's cheapest yet dirtiest backpacker. Definitely Perth's best kept secret and beats competitors such as the Underground, Billabong's hands down. Thanks for the stay and I hope to see you all again soon xo

I checked into this hostel having booked a double room. Vanessa, the front desk manager was very cheerful and helped me with my needs. It is a hostel but she definitely gave hotel service, excellent . She is a Star !The location is good, away from the central but only need a 10min walk to city central. It is near the Perth Museum and Library and you can get the Blue Cat ( a free bus) to almost everywhere.

For those of you from outside of Australia be warned. Most Backpacker accommodation for $20 a night is unclean & antagonistic drunks are tolerated . At the Emporors Crown i witnessed a very immature guest arrive & moan & groan about not staying the night with her boyfriend when it was obvious the booked the cheaper 4 bedded room option with their 2 mates. The Hostel was filled to capacity. Nonetheless Vanessa at the front desk showed oodles of support & time looking for a solution to the problem. $38 a night is very cheap & to get service too is amazing. Our dollar is high currently so yes $38 is more than it was 1 year ago for you guys from UK & Europe. Me I liked the big mattress. the cleanliness & the service
