“Excellent food and service”
Reviewed March 30, 2014 via mobile

We were very impressed with this restaurant. It has a very funky setup and we loved the concept of having thai tapas. It was unlike anywhere we have been to before.
We shared 4 tapas between 2 people. The food was creatively presented and delicious. The service was excellent. This is a great little find.
We recommend bringing cash as they charge a fee to use EFTPOS or credit.

“Thai with a twist!”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

We have been to Red Opium a few times now and it has been exquisite every time. We love Thai but this is a completely different twist on fantastic food. The food is faultless and delights every time, it is difficult to choose a dish as they are all fantastic. Typically Thai, it has the right atmosphere, staff who are ever eager to please, good prices and beautiful presentation, well worth a visit.

“Wonderful food”
Reviewed March 3, 2014 via mobile

My partner and I were spending the evening in perth and used trip advisor to decide on somewhere different to eat. We chose red opium based on the fact it was Asian tapas. We arrived to a beautiful restaurant and greeted with great service. The food was unbelievable. We ordered 6 dishes which were served one at a time which was perfect. The food was stunning and at such low prices we could not believe how lucky we were. Unlike some restaurants where you are rushed in and out we spent a lovely night enjoying amazing food in a fabulous environment.
We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and will definitely be eating here again. I cannot praise this place highly enough.

“wow! - just simply wow”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

Having been introduced to Red Opium via a work function a few weeks ago, and being mightily impressed with the quality of the food. I was keen to get back with some "foody" friends to re-experience this magic little gem.

We were delighted and amazed at the dishes. Each one is a stand alone experience, From initial the oyster shooters ( which set a amazingly high bar, and are an absolute must! - the chilli ,lime and lemongrass are perfect partners and have to be savored ), right the way through to the Masaman Beef Curry and Duck, things just got better and better.

The flavors and presentations are second to none, there is a definite feeling of care and pride attached to these dishes.

The best part was watching the expressions on the faces of my friends, (as fairly experienced "foodies" who would rather stay home and cook, than be disappointed) they are not easily impressed, but watching them smile enjoy and savor each bite.... well I'm happy to bask in the reflected glory. :-)

Being BYO we had some magnificent wines to compliment the dishes, and we were one of the last tables to leave. Which gave Jak and Penny a chance to come and introduce themselves and say hello, what a lovely amazing couple, and a fantastic way to top off the evening by getting a personalised story about the dishes and the restaurant.

I would seriously rate this place highly. 2 very different evenings ( work and Friends) and each time a fantastic experience.
