“The wine bar is a must”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Lalla Rookh is more than another Perth CBD restaurant. The food is good and the service is very friendly but if you never go into the wine bar that faces Sherwood Court (and the window opens right onto the footpath, then you have missed what makes this restaurant different to all the others. Headed up by Jeremy, you will be taken on a wine journey not available anywhere else in Perth that I am aware of.

“When in need we found a friend indeed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

Dashing in with 20 minutes for dinner before the next event the bar manager took my problem and turned it into a triumph. First some beautiful olives and fresh baked Spanish bread appeared with a spectacular French sherry shimmering with dry delicacy. My husband inhaled the Riesling and visibly relaxed. Within 5 minutes delicious ham hock and pea croquettes on a piquant sauce were delivered followed by a large and luscious buffalo mozzarella resting on a beautifully seasoned celeriac salad. We left feeling well nourished and without all the stress we had arrived with. These are professional people who provide clever food in an easy friendly manner. We were in the little bar off Howard Street but on that Friday night the main restaurant sounded to be a lively place when we walked along the Terrace.

“Trendy bar/resturant with decent food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2013

The atmosphere is trendy and a bit loud, but tastfully decorated.
I had the motz stuffed lemons which I found to be a bit unbalanced and more bitter than expected.
For mains I had the minute steak. The steak was well seasoned and cooked great. It was topped with fresh tomatoes and grilled bread. I am not sure the two things went with the steak but overall it was tasty.

“Hardest place to find in Perth”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

I went there to meet up with friends and it's just about impossible to find, maybe it adds to the experience? The sign is tiny and hidden, and the place is underground.
The bar feels like a train station, I had to wave at the bar to get service and there was only one other customer standing there. The bar staff had no knowledge of the beer on taps, and the wine list was a bit all around the shop, I didn't quite get it.
I didn't have food there so I can't comment on that.

“Well-run wine bar with great atmosphere...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013 via mobile

Don't walk past the submerged wine bar on Sherwood Ct... small and easy to talk with friends.

Friendly staff and a wonderful collection of (mostly younger) wines from around Australia, Italy, France, Spain...

The cheese plate was a nice match to the 3 wine premium flight (choose from wines sold by the glass). Slightly over-salted bread to match the cheeses, but overall a very happy experience. :)
