Have been here several times i am amazed by the quality of food and service my favourites are the chicken salad soft shell crab and patagonian tooth fish but everything is good very reasonably priced for the quality just go

Bonsai is my favourite restaurant in Perth. The food is simply stunning and amazing value. Japanese. Tapas. The prawn and chicken salads are my favourites but there are many others. Isaac is a wonderful host. The atmosphere is great. Small to larger groups. I have my own table there. I/we have recommended it to many diners. A must have to visit. And you just keep keep coming back!

If you're looking for Japanese cuisine that's a little bit different to your run of the mill menu, then give The Bonsai Restaurant & Cafe a try. The flavours are tasty, decor has a genuine character about it, and prices are good for the presentation and quality of food. Good place for a dinner for two, or a meal with a group.

Went here on the recommendation of a friend, have to say - pretty disappointed. Tuesday night, staff very attentive and helpful however the food came out with the whole thing over in 40 minutes. Great set up and layout, interesting menu choices however didn't find anything special about the Bonsai. The gyoza was gluggy, the rice cool and the water lukewarm. Maybe a bad night but not a recommendation from us.

Went here on a Saturday night at 7pm.
The restaurant wasn't full but still quite busy. It had a really good atmosphere. We sat at a table which was lower and had a lounge type chair so it made it seem more casual which in turn made us more comfortable. All of the staff were always smiling and were there as soon as we needed them.
Could not fault any of the food at all. We got the torched salmon nigiri, takoyaki, tempura prawns, Cajun spiced baby squid and the two way chicken. The nigiri just melted in your mouth and the prawns had a flavouring on the outside that just made them so much better. We didn't want to leave overly full as we wanted to get dessert elsewhere so it was a perfect amount, and with drinks was less than $100.
Cant wait to go back!
