Right in the middle of the city; easy walk to attractions, jetty, shopping, eats. For the price you pay, its just great! Forget fancy business hotels in the city. This hotel is unique with its own charm considering its the oldest hotel in the city. Oh..and their cafe, we had dinner there on our last night. Their pasta/spaghetti were awesome and well-priced! Have it on the patio and enjoy the city lights at night!

Read all the reviews here and booked hotel, Female traveled alone on Business and I stayed between last week May for 4 days, wonderful location within 560 Hay Street. CAT Bus red zone just outside hotel also you can walk to take Blue or Yelow CAT buses all with walking distances, really great location and no not that old or run down and renovated recently, had a single room and toilet very clean with cable TV all English channels what a breeze for me! Room Rates US100 per night wonderfully priced as compared to other hotels nearby. Given a single room on 3rd level, yes lift is working perfectly. There is a IGA supermarket just next door open from 7am to 11pm so you can get all sort of groceries, fresh milk and juices and snack plus sanitary towels. Friendly reception staff manned by Asian from Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia and even Singaporeans students. Easily accessible with Taxis from Airport and back. There is a restaurant that serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner but you wont go hungry as many eateries are just with 10 metres from Hotel. Souvenirs shop next door, Macdonalds, Subway and a Nonya and Korean Rest, pharmacy and snack take away shops all within 20 metres. For those who wish to buy from Woolworths Supermarket where you can buy bread, cheese cake, ham and sandwiches located just 5 mins away on Murray Street junction of Murray Centre Mall opens from 7am to 11pm you can buy groceries similar to IGA just next to Criterion Hotel Perth 560 Hay St, Perth, Western Australia 6000, Australia. This is Hotel is central located near the Perth Train Station just 10mins walk to Wellington Street will you can take a train to Fremantle and any locations from Perth City. Will be returning to book again. Highly recommended ! Very Good.

Room Tip: Centrally location in Perth City, Hay Street, asian and western eateries nearby, 10 minutes walk to...

I took a punt on the look of the hotel (I was very taken by its art deco facade) and the low price. On arrival it exceeded my expectations on room size, character, location and cleanliness. Check in and check out was a breeze and the bed was comfortable and linen fresh. Shower was spacious with good water pressure.

Location: Walking distance to Perth City Shopping District. You can catch the free CAT buses to travel around the city and Northbridge.

Room: Classic and spacious. Comfortable bed, reverse cycle air con, TV, hot shower, mini fridge, in rom safe, coffee/tea making facility, window and non smoking.

Pros:
-Free wifi and free internet on shared computers at the lobby
-Ground level rooms and elevator for higher floors
-Secure key card access to room with 24 hour friendly reception
-Walking distance to shopping district with supermarket, restaurant, bottle shop and Macca's along the same street.
- Good value for money for location as hotels in Perth are expensive.

I would stay here again just because of the location but it was probably my least favorite room in my 2 months of travel in Australia. Nothing wrong but just very plain -- almost like a worn motel room in the US for $65...but clean and useful for a one or two night stay. I liked the free internet computer in the lobby. People at the front desk were nice and helpful

Room Tip: I asked for a room at the back because the hotel sits on a busy street

We stayed here for three nights and found it a good option. Don't expect anything modern let alone luxurious but the room was adequately furnished, the bed was comfortable and there was a decent bathroom. The aircon was a bit ancient but worked OK though I'm not sure if it would have been enough if we'd been staying at the height of summer. Most importantly, everything was very clean and the bed linen in good condition. Reception staff were helpful and the free internet in the lobby was a bonus. Excellent location right in the centre of Perth though not sure what guests with cars do for parking. We had a good evening meal at the Criterion Brasserie (you get a discount for your first meal if you are a guest) although were less impressed with the buffet breakfast. Perth is an expensive city for hotel accommodation and we found the Criterion a good value for money no frills option.

Room Tip: We had a back room which faced out into an unlovely carpark with rubbish bins. Didn't bother us...

I had a short stay in Perth for only 1 night. This hotel is in a very central location, close to the Hay St mall and various bus stops. The rooms are rather basic but clean, spacious and functional. Room includes air con, bar fridge, hairdyer, tea & coffee making facilities, large TV, but no ironing board. From my room on the 2nd floor at the far end of the corridor I could hear some street and air conditioning noise but was still able to sleep soundly.

Recommended for the budget traveller. This hotel is very good value if you are looking for a room with the basics - considering that other hotels in Perth charge much higher rates for similar (or worse) rooms.

Reception is open 24hrs and staff are friendly and helpful.

TIP: Room rates are considerably higher if you are booking through websites such as Wotif, Lastminute etc. You get a better deal making a reservation through the hotel directly, if they still have rooms available (the hotel pre-sells its rooms to Wotif etc). I paid $150 for a twin room only through Wotif, but if booking directly with the hotel you pay $133 for a twin room which includes a cooked buffet breakfast. Government rates are also available.
