Stayed here for about 4 nights in January.

The place was quite clean and well maintained and it was easy enough to meet other travellers.

Unfortunately it was a bit of a walk from anything, and the kitchen facilities were a bit sparse. There was one fridge for the entire hostel that was always over-full and never cool. The price included air conditioning that didn't seen to work at all in my room (other rooms seemed to be air conditioned).

OK stay, but not great value.

we stayed 4 nights at Governor Robinson's. The staff we friendly, the place was clean apart from the kitchen but we didnt use it anyway.
We thought the location was good for what we needed. I liked the area, plenty of reasonable priced restaurants and backpacker bars not too far a walk away. And being in a multi-cultural area there was plenty to choose from, korean, vietnamese, chinese etc.
The only let down for us was that we were in a room next to the kitchen and even though there were signs everywhere saying 'no noise after 11pm' we didnt have a a decent nights sleep due to all the chattering and giggling coming from the kitchen area.
This obviously isnt the hostels fault, they have tried, but maybe a door that had sound proofing or even one that shut between the corridor and the kitchen may have helped keep some noise out.

The owners seemed to have their own list of rules that you were only told about when you broke one. The showers are a serious health hazard with water pooling in the whole bathroom and I myself have nearly fallen over slipping on stagnant water.

While the peaceful nature of the hostel was nice, the owners discouraged anyone from making friends and "getting comfortable" there, which led to several people being told to leave simply "just because".

I would recommend any other hostel to this one.

situated at the northbridge area which is quiet and within walking distance to downtown [about 10 mins walk]. my dormitory consist of 6 beds ~i prefer female dorm and they have co-ed also~ and have wooden floor, made in from jarrah, a local wood that can be found many places in australia. it's an old house that turn into low-key backpackers' hostel. there's a big kitchen that can be used by guests for cooking. a big dining room and veranda on the back for reading book. a sofa and living room.
