“Nice location and a good value”
Reviewed December 25, 2012

It's a good place to stay that's clean, nicely decorated (50's style) and even has a small kitchen including a refrigerator. Dishes are included as well. It's ideal for when you're on a budget, but if you want a fancy hotel, this isn't the place you're looking for!

One downside is that we couldn't locate an elevator, so if you're booked for an upstairs room, dragging your luggage up and down the steps may be an issue.

Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone as a good place to stay on a budget.

I have stayed here twice now. The last time was September 2012 and we had 2 bedrooms. This is great value for money. New flat screen TV's with digital coverage. New bathroom and I love the kitchen with all the cook ware you need. Gas stove and microwave. We had 8 days there and were completely relaxed and slept very well. Located on the river, but in the CBD, around the corner from Rental Cars, Barrack Street Wharf, Cat Buses, Bell Tower etc. Air Con was great! The receptionist organised Airport Bus, extra pillows. Very helpful with tourist info. Better to ask for level 2 or 3, if you don't like car noises. Laundramat facilities too!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back and on the 2nd level. We had the last room, and very quiet.

I stayed at City Waters for an extended stay. The location is excellent as it is within the city precincts as well as close to the river which is great for morning walks. It is on the Transperth Free Zone making it accessible to everywhere in the City of Perth and beyond. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is clean and quiet and though dated in some ways it is very good value for money. It is ideal for short or longer term stays. Free parking is also available onsite which is another plus. I would certainly recommend it.

I recently visited Perth together with my Wife and one other couple. As we needed to be located close to Perth CBD I found City Waters which is a Hotel in the Golden Chain group of properties. The four of us had the pleasure of being guests of this Hotel for a grand total of Five nights.
We loved the place as it's location is a short stroll from the CBD, the amenities provided were amazing, we had everything required to prepare a four course meal should we have required one!
Our two bedroom unit was just great and the Hosts looked after us as though we were family.
I can really recommend this Hotel to anyone who has the intention of visiting Perth and requires accommodation at a very reasonable price!

Room Tip: Book early as this Hotel is very popular. No problems with traffic noises!

Citywaters is very old and basic. It was a sad surprise when we arrived here late at night. We could hear a lot of noise from the pother rooms and parking lot. Our room looked onto a back alley. It was $150 per night but for $20 more we could have stayed in a more comfortable and well known hotel chain. Would not come back.

this hotel looks like a butlins or prisoner cell block H, it is really clean with comfortable beds and is in a great location, it's staff are very friendly too, but the look is off putting, but if you just need a couple of nights cheap accommodation in Perth, this hotel ain't to bad. Hi De Hi campers.

To preface this review I have to say that obtaining accommodation in Perth is pretty difficult. There is a shortage of hotels and most hotels are either overbooked, or charge huge rates. After trying to find 2 rooms for a one week booking for Sept 2012 in April 2012, I found this establishment the only place that had availability in my price range (or so I thought). I booked the two rooms for the standard flat rate.

When I arrived at the hotel, the first thing that alarmed me was the surly reception staff (whom was the wife of the husband/manager). The next thing were the state of the rooms. The rooms are dingy, dated, and in some areas dirty. The bathroom, in particular, was growing mould in a few places (some behind the toilet, other patches of mould in the shower area). The taps in the other bathroom made loud screeching noises whenever they were on. The kitchen area was recently updated, but I noticed food debris near the fridge recesses and in the new gas stove.

The television had digital television, which was ok, but the reception was usually poor and the station would cut out a few times every minute. My traveling colleague required a stable internet connection to do some work for a conference, and she was unable to use the fairly expensive internet provided through the hotel so she needed my 3G network access which is limited and considerably more expensive. When my colleague complained to the manager's wife, she admitted the internet was like that, and to fix it you had to repeatedly click on "Repair Internet Connection" in Windows.

The beds were very uncomfortable, with ugly patterned sheets (are they used to minimise the staining?), and of upmost importance were very itchy. I hardly got any sleep as the extremely flat pillows provided no support.

When we brought these issues up to the manager,as we found much more suitable accommodation for a bit more (but included a buffet breakfast, evening canapes, and afternoon tea + free WiFi), his response was "well that must be difficult for you" in a really dismissive and hostile manner. To top it off, they were refusing to allow us to leave early and charge us for the 7 nights stating plainly "NO REFUNDS." We eventually were allowed to leave but had to pay for another night's stay even though we were leaving that morning.

I may have high expectations, but a 3 star establishment does not mean it is dirty, has appalling service, and inoperable advertised facilities. Overall this was a very disappointing place to stay with the management's bad attitude topping it all off.

Room Tip: Just don't stay here, and pay a bit more. It actually is cheaper to find a place that provides...
