Owner description: Twelve of the 18 bells in this tower came from London's St.-Martin-in-the-Fields church in Trafalgar Square as a Bicentenary gift to the people of Western Australia in 1988. Originally cast in the 13th century and recast in the 16th and 18th centuries, they were rung at the homecoming of James Cook after his voyage of discovery in 1771, after the Battle of El Alamein in 1942 and at the coronation of every British monach since George II in 1727.

Only went in to shelter from the rain, however was pleasantly surprised. They were running a demonstration of bell-ringing and got to have a go which was quite fun. Also well-presented information about bell-ringing of the bells kept in the tower there.

And we have to pay to see a bell. This was built by an ex premier who wanted a monument to himself .A total white elephant that is still costing the taxpayer thousands in upkeep and maintenance.

Oranges and lemons...well, one set of bells from the nursery rhyme landed up in Perth, and a home was eventually found in this adventurous, interesting landmark which will become integrated in the foreshore development.

This is a unique and very interesting attraction in a striking (no pun intended!) building.
If you have never tried bell-ringing, do have a go. It is fun, but by no means as easy as it looks! But there are plenty of volunteers to show you the ropes (my husband's favourite joke!)
I am sure that there are very few locations where you can actually view the bells in action from the belfry level. Here you can.
There is an interesting display on the background of this very modern building, plus the history of the bells themselves (most from well-known churches in London). And, of course, great views over the city from the observation deck.
Perth needs an iconic attraction, and this one really should be it!
In particular, thanks to Yvette for guiding us round.

A bell tower that we have to pay to see. How disgusting,,. I won't go on how much it cost to be built.. :: Being a rate payer I have put in my fair share of part of the cost so I think I have already paid for my ticket to go see it often. A donation like the Art gallery would encourage the attraction to be on the MUST SEE LIST when n Perth. We went down to have lunch on the jetty and then wanted to go and see the bell tower. 5 people.. would have cost us nearly $70 including the discount for my senior mum and mum inlaw.. OUT of the question and the person selling the tickets couldn't see our reason for not paying it..So so so sorry .. Won't be back.. We saw more on Google .. Thanks for another disappointment City of perth

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you did not get to come in and see the Tower and everything it has to offer. Perhaps you can make it on one of our Open Days when there is no entry fee. We hold one a year on WA Day
