The view was just beautiful over the river, especially at first dawn and in the evening. The hotel was so close to the mall and great restaurants (the Greenhouse was sensational), and just a stroll to the riverside restaurants and bars. The room was large and spacious, and had a private feel. However... the bed was a bit lumpy, as were the pillows. The lounge area light was flickering, and despite calling reception for assistance, it was never fixed throughout my four day stay. The bathroom was nice, but with cracked tiles and a leaky shower head that sprayed water over the wall. The towels were clean, but a little old, and there was no hand towel (but that's being picky). There was no iron in the room - instead, there was an 'ironing room' on the 7th floor, which contained several mattresses stacked against the wall, an old milk crate (should you care to sit whilst ironing!) and a very old ironing board that was badly stained and thin from overuse. The iron itself was okay, although a bit leaky, leaving wet patches on the clothes. The whole ironing room felt like a fire hazard in a broom closet, with little space for movement, nowhere to hang freshly ironed clothes, a door that swung firmly shut behind you as you entered, and carpet on the floor... so you leave hoping you've remembered to turn the iron off! The kitchen amenities were sufficient, but my colleague's kettle wouldn't work unless she held it down onto the electrical source. Also, the dishwashing liquid was stored in an old, used water bottle under the sink... poorly labelled in texta, and clearly a hazard should little children have been staying with any of us. For the TV lover, don't expect the full range of digital channels (stock standard ABC, 7, 9 10 only). Despite all of these quirks, as a budget hotel with some great redeeming features (such as the view, location and the large room), I'd definitely stay there again. Just don't expect anything fancy~!

Not bad at all, got a room with a queen bed and a single bed, despite only being on my own. Not sure if it was a standard room I booked for or was just given this room. The aircon was awesome, beds extra comfortable (but I'm 170cm tall), good views, excellent location, the lifts were really quick though they closed really quickly too, spacious rooms, friendly people here (both staff and some guests). The only negatives would be that the television had 4 channels, wished it had the full array of digital freeview channels and could of had a microwave! The room was really stuck in the 70s or 80s, but that's nothing, it was really clean!

The hotel staffs were rather friendly and helpful. Location wise, The New Esplanade is strategically located where Hay Street shopping street is just right within walking distance, 5-min walk. Ferry service to South Perth/Rottnest Island is just 5-min walk away. City metro is also just 5-min away. King's Park is around 10-15min walk distance.

The hotel looks rather look and run-down. Room is relatively big but poorly decorated. The toilet in the room is old and badly maintained. Room service is poor, my room was not properly clean up on the first 2 days of my stay. The furnitures in the room are old and in horrible condition.

There were quite a number of drunk kids around the hotel at night and sadly they created a lot of noise and even harassed people walked by.

I stayed at the New Esplanade Hotel because of its proximity to the Perth Conference & Exhibition Centre. The decor of the hotel is old and somewhat run-down, although the rooms are a decent size and are clean. The staff were helpful and addressed any problems I had (internet not working; 20somethings partying in the hallways; minibar chocolates waterlogged). Good location. Generally though, I think it is overpriced. Sleep was disrupted by construction noise outside (not the hotel's fault, but the lack of double-glazed windows and the fact that one window didn't close properly didn't help).

Staying at the New Esplanade Hotel Perth is like travelling back in time to the late 1980's because I'm guessing that was the last time the decor was updated. This hotel is showing its' age badly. It's been patched up, but it shows .. Cracks plastered up - badly. Silicon everywhere, blankets ripped. The rooms are a good size, but for the price you can do much better in central Perth.

Just needed a bed and a shower while I was in transit. I had contacted the hotel directly to see if they had any deals available and I was told abruptly that I would be better to just go online as it would be cheaper so I booked through Booking.com and it was only $89. When I entered the room it appeared clean and tidy. However when I went into the bathroom the toilet was covered/splattered with faeces. It was revolting. I went and told reception and he came up to the room and ended up moving me to another room and told me that I would have to pass this on to whoever was on in the morning. The room I was moved to was very large and nice but all I could think of was if they miss something so disgustingly obvious like this what else is being missed.
On check-out I told the lady at reception and she didn't even offer an apology or say they would follow it up, which I thought was a bit rude.
Not a good way to start an r and r after working for 28 days.
It was a great location with the Swan River across the road but all I kept thinking was what is lurking underneath the surface. Won't stay again. Mortified!

We had to stay in Perth for a short business trip and this hotel displayed the most attractive package value for money. Location is fantastic and our standard room was up to our expectation.
