“Great Breakfast and pastries!”
Reviewed January 2, 2011

Quaint little Hotel there, located at the just at the tip of Perth's main city center and shopping district within 3mins walk. Check in was fuss free. Don't expect any porter service with your luggage thus, be prepared to lug your luggage up the stairs to the 1 tiny lift on the mezzanine floor.
Room are decent and clean. Do not, miss the hot breakfast and pastries! They make 1 hell of fine bacon and eggs! That had me looking forward to breakfast every day. As it's an old tudor styled building, there were many long corridors with different sized rooms. I had a larger room, on my 2nd stay as we travelled out to Margaret's River for a couple of nights. The larger room had a balcony and larger bathroom.

Rooms are dark for many of them, staff not very helpful, doing the minimum, breakfast ok but nothing extraordinary. Our room, supposed to be a "suite", was so dark we did not want to be there but for sleeping.

Conveniently central....comfortable and well equipped rooms. A Quiet sun terrace to relax on the first floor. There are stairs. The lift is quite antiquated and ? a little unsafe for children and the elderly.
Breakfasts ....a good filler for the rest of the day.

But..maybe because it was the Christmas season for parties..t.he buffet dinners were packed to overflowing and extremely noisy. The buffet is vast and varied from oysters, matzos herring ,roasts etc. The sweet and pastry section an extravaganza..What a great.. entertainment /cabaret watching the customers filling their plates to overflowing and comng back for more .! Woops and those waistlines!

Reception staff variable. Lift antiquated and in my opinion dangerous and is based at the top of a flight of steps! The first room we were allocated was dirty with paper hanging off the walls and who knows what down the wallpaper. We were moved to the supposedly only other vacant room which was slightly better but was very tired and in urgent need of refurbishment. En-suite tiny and dirty below sink level. Breakfast ok but nothing out of the ordinary, but the waitresses were very obliging. As for the location it appeared to be in an area where less than savoury characters hung about on the opposite corner.

The only reason we picked this hotel was because *Everything* was booked out in Perth and we had a conference, so dates were not movable. However, we were pleasantly surprised! Miss Maud's a great little hotel, in Perth East and very close to the train station. It's a cute hotel, dressed up in style and warm staff. The breakfast smorgasboard was yummy, as is their cookies from the cafe downstairs. Will definitely consider going back!
The rooms are spotlessly clean and very roomy.

As for cons, the views aren't great, though if you are travelling and won't spend much time at the hotel, it's alright.

Miss Maud in Perth WA is in a great location, right in the heart of the city.
The staff were friendly and efficient. The room was quite small and due to tall buildings either side of the hotel the room had no views and was quite dark. The room was clean and serviced each day.
The complimentary breakfast was very good with a large selection on offer.
The stay was spoilt by inconsiderate guests being noisy, there was a fair amount of coming and going at all hours. We were in the last room along the corridor and still felt the noise was too much. If you are by the lift or staircase the noise could be quite intrusive.
