On a recent stay at the Ambassador for work, I had hoped to spend some valuable relaxation time once I finished work for the day. This was not to be I am sorry to say. The hotel is a little way out of the CBD and during the week it is quite a deserted part of town at night. This prompted a reluctance to walk to restaurants etc. Room service consisted of phoning down to the restaurant and getting a call from the kitchen to come and pick it up when it was ready. I spent 5 days asking for the shower gel in the shower to be filled, housekeeping forgot to finish a service and neglected to take out rubbish, forgot to finish the bed. The power socket in the bathroom didn't work and the dryer fell off the wall. The air conditioning was centrally controlled and therefore could not be adjusted. It was cold. I must say, I am usually tolerant and can understand things missed and mistakes made, but on this occasion having to repeatedly seek remedy to situations was unacceptable and not in keeping with the advertised service standard. A very disappointing stay.

Room Tip: Choose a room in a different hotel is my best tip

We were booked into this Hotel for our last night in Perth, wish we had stayed with family instead, the room was small the bathroom had very noisy taps we had to catch the shuttle at 5.15 for our flight so no time for breakfast etc.

Room Tip: Had very little time there but did tell travel agent not to recommend

The Ambassador Hotel was part of our package for our cruise around Australia . We arrived at the hotel quite late at night, we where met at reception by a very friendly man that booked us in an guided us to our room. Our late arrival meant that the hotel bar was closed but we where able to buy a bottle of wine from a fridge unit in reception, this enabled us to wind down after a very long journey. The room was on the 5th floor, it was a large and very modern clean room with tea making facilities. The following day we where able to look around the general areas of the hotel the restaurant room the bar and the gymnasium. Having liked the look of the restaurant we decided to eat there in the evening, the food was very good and most enjoyable a nice little twist at the end of our meal was the lad waiting on us brought a dessert that was free because it was Valentines Day not bad for two pensioners. the prices in the bar are typical of Perth prices which are quite expensive.
The hotel is situated in the business area of Perth which is very modern and clean, apparently the buses that pass the front of the hotel are free of charge but we didn't use it, we instead went on the Hop on Hop off bus for a tour of Perth because of our limited time there. The tour on the bus took us around the most interesting places giving a good audio description of all points of interest. The high point of the tour where the Kings Park a most beautiful park with it's unique trees only found in Australia and the Avenue of Heroes dedicated to the Armed Forces that gave there lives in wars abroad and never came home.
I must say that our short stay in Perth was most enjoyable and will stay in our minds for ever.
I would highly recommend the Hotel and the city as a place to stay.

Room Tip: As we only know the room we stayed in we can't really say which is best, all we can say is our r...

This is an ideal base for the business traveler. Rooms are clean and have everything you need to sleep at night. It is dated, parts have been updated. Breakfast (which is usually included) is buffet style, again, nothing terrific, but enough to suit you before heading off to the office! Staff are friendly and helpful. Would use again, as its near the office. Would not recommend for a holiday .

I'm told that the accommodation shortage in Perth means that you are inevitably overcharged for what you get. Certainly that was my view here. The bathrooms are very shabby, the carpets a bit tatty and the lifts so slow you think at least two of the three must be out of order at any given time.
However, the staff are helpful and the cleaners do a great job with not much help from the fabric of the building. The restaurant food was better than I expected at both breakfast and dinner.
The bed was wonderfully comfortable and I appreciated the free wifi and desk.

Room Tip: Away from lift

This hotel is dated but it is not bad. It's pricey for what you get, but that's the mining boom Perth is experiencing now. The room is fine and comfortable, has a separate bath and shower area. The staff have been great and are willing to assist anytime. I would stay here again if the price is right. This time the average rate I got was 270 AUD per night.

Room Tip: Don't leave it to the last minute. Hard to get rooms in Perth. Rooms dated but fine for a good n...

Spent a couple of nights here in February, 2013. Hotel was clean and we were given a very spacious family room, although there was only two of us. Air conditioning was good - this being a basic necessity in Perth.

Situated in the CBD, the hotel is conveniently situated for eateries, shops and some of the sights are comfortably walkable. Frequent bus services pass the Ambassador, making it easy to get around, and to reach the main waterfront attractions. In our opinion a good value for money basic, though comfortable hotel. Reception staff were helpful and welcoming, and we enjoyed our stay.
