“Great location!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

Stayed 8 nights in all. Very comfortable, access to free wifi in room, clean but a little dated. Found the staff helpful and friendly. The location is great as walking distance to centre of Perth and close to the quay for ferries. Soap, shampoo, bubble bath and hair conditioner provided. Also a plus is an ironing board and iron, also tea and coffee in room. A down side was the breakfast! Continental the same every morning and expensive for what it was!

This hotel is old , the rooms well out of date, furniture, air conditioning and overall decor showing signs of age and lots of use. Located on the edge of the city, but ten or fifteen minutes walk to the centre.Good for a short, value stop over. but not for a longer stay.
Staff are friendly , but not overly enthusiastic.

Had to travel to Perth for a night, prior to flying out to a mine site. This Hotel was listed on Qantas hotel accommodation page, and listed as 4 star. This hotel looks to have been built in the 70's, and not much has changed.

When booking I paid for the breakfast, as I was flying early they did provide a take-away box. $30 for an apple, orange juice, muesli bar, and small box of cereal. ( Bit rich )

The only plus here was the 600 frequent flyer points.

Stayed in this hotel for a business trip-its got average features: useable wifi access for online browsing but not fast enough for VOIP comm, clean sheets, clean towels. bathtub is separated from shower. Soap, shampoo and conditioner are available via wall dispensers.

it has a feel of an older hotel, wall paint not that fresh, closets are rough on the edges but is not an issue. LCD wall- mounted tv, ironing board, iron and landline phones are standard. Breakfast is available for a fee.

Location is pretty good, approx. 15 mins walk to the convention center and shopping area. Also same distance to the quay where ferries leave for tours to rottnest island (where sadly i didnt go).

Overall, this is an ok hotel to stay at.

Prices in Perth for anything are ridiculous, and the excuse is Mining. A group of 7 us, needed to be in Perth for a week for work, and one of the cheapest hotel rooms we could get was at the Perth Ambassador Hotel (PAH) for A$333 per night, bed only. With little choice, I checked in.

Check in was quick. The staff were a bit hard to understand. PAH still has room keys. The lifts are old, and take for ever. The corridor reminded me of a hostel. The room was good size. The bathroom looked okay.

Room - the carpet was dirty and worn. I had left some small bits of paper on the floor, which were never once vacuumed away. The toilet was never cleaned properly, surfaces were not wiped down. Cleanliness was a big issue.

The bed was okay. One day, I found a pillow with a blood stain on it. Could not be bothered to complain, so threw it on the floor.

The WiFi worked. The air con worked. The room was a bit dark. No safe. The tea cups were never cleaned properly. I had to clean these my self.

It is an awful hotel, and were it not for the mining boom, it would be shut down due to lack of patronage.

I would never return here again.

Room Tip: Any not in this hotel.

Perth: one of the only places that can get away with charging the amount the Ambassador does while providing a run down old hotel with zero frills. I needed to stay overnight for business and struggled to find a place in the city that wasn't over $300pn. Decided to give the Ambassador a go as it was just under budget.

Pros:
Room was big with decent size bed and space for laptop, luggage and hanging space.
Had a bar fridge
Had a TV
Tiny gym
Free Parking
Aircon - never figured out how to control it though
No street noise

Cons:
Way overpriced for what it is!!
Very run-down and dated
Bathroom was ok but because it is so old it almost feels dirty being in there
Gym was very small and poor equipment - don't expect much.
No atmosphere or friendly welcomes when arriving
In a dead part of the city, West Perth or Central are more lively

Wouldn't stay here again.

This isn't the worst hotel I stay at in my travels; my room (705) was very large and quite comfortable, but for the equivalent of Melbourne/Sydney 4 1/2 star prices, it is very average... The foyer is dated, the rooms not well equipped and they have installed my pet hate in any hotel above a backpackers - liquid soap/shampoo dispenser in the shower and bathroom.
Compared to East Coast hotels its pretty poor and expensive: compared to other Perth hotels, its just like the restaurant scene here: overpriced mediocrity.
