Owner description: The main attraction is the museum's extensive collection of Aboriginal artifacts, but yes, there's a dinosaur gallery for the kids, too. *The Perth site will temporarily close from June 2016 to re-open in 2020.

We quickly jumped off one of the Blue Cat busses to get something to eat and stumbled on the Museum cafe. It was lovely. The food was homemade to a high standard and all served on vintage 'shabby chic' china. It was the best afternoon tea we had on the trip and a suprise to come from a museum cafe. The setting was lovely in the courtyard area, surrounded by period buildings. We could also looked at a few of the attractions outside the cafe...eg. oldest grape vine in the region etc.

Killing some time while hubs had meetings in the CBD. I walked over to this place from Kings St, and it was a great way to spend the afternoon. Entry is free, although they do appreciate donations. Museum is pretty low tech, but you can get right up and personal with the exhibitions- which is awesome. They also have a large collection of butterflies, aboriginal art and close proximity to the art gallery (which is currently showing Andy Warhol-- tho don't go on a Tuesday as they are closed. Another great thing about this place is that it is right by the train station. It's a hidden gym in the city.

Very interesting. Went two different days,.. without the children on the second day. Lovely relaxing day. The shop was reasonably priced and the Cafe was also very reasonaly priced for lunch, which was absolutely beautiful..love the tea cups.

I love it because it is how a museum should be. No cavernous halls with rotating heartless displays that someone has cooked up with their idea of cultural significant, but real collectors' stuff, well-documented, leading to genuine knowledge. They are threatening to replace it with one of the new variety - it will be a great loss. Please preserve at least half of in an an annexe.
