To visit The Perth Mint take the free Red CAT bus service is convenient for The Perth Mint. Alight at The Perth Mint CAT bus stop (number 6). Housed in its historic building circa 1899 its displays and tour give a fascinating insight into over 100 years of minting excellence in Western Australia. A tour consists of a Guided Talk, entrance in to The Perth Mint Gold Exhibition and Gold Pouring demonstration. A new state of the art minting facility was opened in 2003 next to the original limestone building, thus continuing a proud heritage of over 100 years of minting in WA.

It was a nice experience and we bought coins with our names engraved!!! The other interesting thing was when they melted the gold. You can also buy beautiful Christmas ornaments for gifts. A bit expensive but it was worth it

“Enjoyable if not amazing”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

I had high expectations and not sure the tour fulfilled them. Not that anything was bad, but I think I expected more than we got. Having said that I am still glad I went and I did enjoy the tour. Watching the pour was great, hearing some of the history interesting and finding out what "worth my weight in gold" meant in dollar terms was fun. In reflecting I think the disappointment came from the guide not saying that the 'pour' was the end of the guided part of the tour. We all came out looking for our guide to take us to the next part. Debated whether to give 3 stars (average) or 4 (very good) - it was in the middle, good.

The Perth Mint is well worth a visit if you are into history. You need some time to go through it, and enjoy some coffee or lunch there.

“Fun and Interesting”

You get to actually witness how gold is melted and then poured into making a gold brick! Then, see how they can make you a special souvenir coin for your special occasion such as birthday, anniversary, and wedding.
