“Gold & Coins”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

Watch Gold being pored, coins made and see some of Western Australia's history. Extensive range of gold, coins, jewelery and souvenirs for purchase. tour guides have good knowledge of the history of the Mint and early gold history.

“Hmmmm, Minty!”
Reviewed April 21, 2014

We opted for the tour at $50 for a family of 4. The guide assembled us outside the building, told us some of the history of the building and then led us inside to view a one tonne gold coin, worth $49 million, give or take a million, depending on gold prices. After watching a brief video, we witnessed a gold pour and an explanation of the process. After this, we were free to take in the static displays and watch what appeared to be a handful of staff talking while they operated the minting equipment. I wasn't aware that the Perth Mint doesn't produce currency for our country and was little disappointed at the tour, considering the cost. Really, if they can afford a 50 million dollar coin, they don't need the money!

“interesting”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

Interesting and informative. With the price of gold now its nice to see it being poured up close.
The talk is good but short. Its worth it just to wander around the place, and finish up with a good snack.

This was more interesting than I expected. I enjoyed the talk and the gold pour and a look around the building while waiting for the tour to start.

This was a must for anyone travelling to Perth to visit. Educational and very interesting. Gift shop prices were quite reasonable as well as tour. Found making the gold bar absolutely amazing. A must see !!
