beautiful beatifull gardens, walks & views all just a few minutes from the city centre. great for a bike ride too. It is quite a large park. It has many different areas, some specially for kids, some for concerts, many great for picnics. too hard to pick a favourite spot. We have been many many times and will go back again. just love it.

This very large park, 25 minutes walk from the city centre, overlooks the city of Perth and the Swan river looking east to south-east. It includes beautifully presented gardens in which to picnic or take in the sights; kiosks, cafes and a restaurant; and bush-land walks. You can easily spend a relaxing half a day or more there. We locals love the place and always take our out of town visitors there. The food is good but the service not always fast. The adjacent fine arts shop is also a must see. Do take a wind-cheater though, as it can get chilly even in summer. You have to be unlucky to strike a wet day here. You can get here on the Route 37 bus along St Georges Terrace or taxi or tour bus.

Sydney has its Harbour and Perth has Kings Park. Not in the same league, but it's a unique feature that makes the place a bit special. Great views of the city and the themed areas let you see each part of the state's special flora in a compact location.

The only downsides are the expensive-but-ordinary cafe and the exercise classes, but that's no reason to stay away.

It's a very well maintained and one of the most beautiful city park. Great to walk around on a sunny day. Also gives you beautiful panoramic view of the Perth downtown and the Swan river.

King's Park and Botanic Garden is a large tract of land overlooking Perth City and the Swan River. The Botanic Garden is not a typical "botanic" garden in that it features many rare and unusual Australian plants, with only a smattering of "foreign" plants. The Botanic Garden employs a number of scientists and acts as a research facility for endangered plant species.
The parkland is a harmonious mix of playgrounds, lookouts, walking / cycling tracks, BBQ facilities amongst and surrounded by urban bushland. The contrast between the cultivated and natural areas is clear and remarkable.
Views from the elevated park are breathtaking - the City and Swan River panorama is unforgettable. The restaurant has equally spectacular vistas. Definitely a "must-see" in Perth.
