I have been here on previous visits, but the current special exhibit of "Van Gogh, Dali and beyond" particularly piqued my interest. The halls are spacious, allowing viewing pieces from just about any distance you choose...and I have always found that there is always another vista to find from a different angle.

Accessible by train or bus in the City Centre with parking available. The setting with its courtyards and water garden as well as Rodin statues is arresting. The permanent exhibition is always interesting particularly its Aboriginal Art. There are changing world class exhibitions throughout the year. Conducted tours are available. The Art Gallery Shop is full of current display items. There are plenty of rest stops, toilets and a cafe. There's a walkway outside the cafe which will take you to central Perth in minutes. Currently there's an exhibition straight from New York. If you can tear yourself away from the Gallery walk across to the Museum and State Library who also have interesting exhibitions.

Trying hard not to compare with other galleries but much of it was depressing. Dark art. Some Monets, Matisse and local graffitti type.

A modern gallery joined to what was an old courthouse. Godd selection of Western Australia landscapes is the main part of the 19th century paintings. Also a taste of Aboriginal art and modern Australian art. Caught quite a good special exhibition of Impressionist art. Was lucky to have a tour all to ourselves from a very knowledgeable tour guide.
