The location is good, but that's about it.

The apartment we stayed in (a 3brm), was worn - threadbare carpet on the stairs, holes in the curtains, bathroom fixtures old and chipped. It was too cold to swim, but I wouldn't have gone near the pool or spa - both looked grotty.

Also, the wireless access seems reasonable at first until you realise that you have to pay for access EACH TIME you use it - ie. they do not allow multiple log-in's over the 60 minutes you pay for, you have to use it all at once. There is a cafe diagonally across the park just a bit along James Street with reasonably priced wifi and great coffee.

Having stayed in Perth before on many business trips in four or five star hotels like the Hilton, Hyatt or Duxton, I came back travelling with an extended group consisting of family members and friends and took the plunge booking a 3-bedroom apartment at Quest on James in Northbridge !

I couldn't have done better ! The lay-out of the apartment assured privacy to all the different groups, the kitchen was well equipped, the living room spacious and furnished in neutral , soothing tones, with view to the garden area and the pool and spa bath which we made regular use of.
We had 2 bathrooms, one included in the master suite, the other one separate including a spa bath and the laundry, dryer. We were surprised to find that there was a good coffee shop downstairs and DVD's to rent, both things that were not included in the advertisement.

So why is there one star lacking in my rating ? Well, even though the staff were very courteous and multilingual, the fact that the Quest does not have a lot of staff makes for waiting times and both times we picked up the luggage trolley ourselves, because otherwise the person at the front desk has to close down and we felt sorry for fellow travellers not being attended during that time. Also, in the evening, the staff is in a bit of a hurry to knock off work , so be prepared to get your things done before they leave.

The tiles around the spa bath indoors need a good scrub and the outdoor patio should have some shade cloth and chairs, but all said, we will truly be back at the same spot ! Can't beat the location in Northbridge either, quiet, yet 5 min. walk to all the jazzy fun, the museums and the station ! The Cat free bus stops 2 minutes from the hotel.

Quest on James serviced apartments surely make for a good option to your normal hotel room, especially if you travel in a larger group and want to use a communal area for entertaining and communicating.

Loved it and the children, too.

Been to Perth many times, but in terms of eating there are few hotels I've stayed in that can come close in terms of convenience for eating. Granted that the Northbridge restaurant belt is pretty commercial and won't win any Michelin Stars, but for variety it can't be beat, and just a short stroll of mere minutes from Quest on Jame's front door. If coming in from the airport it also can't be beat for access as well, just get on the Graham Farmer freeway, take the James St exit and magic it's starring at you!

Apartments are well maintained and more than adequately comfortable, though the 2 bedroom apartment has only 1 bathroom, and the one I was in faced James St and got rather noisy especially over the weekend. A DVD player in the living room is a nice touch, and they offer broadband access at a bargain $10 a day (though they couldn't get it to work with my ibook for some reason, which is strange as I've had no probs otherwise at other hotels all over the world). If you're too lazy to fix your own breakfast there is a cafe on the premise which offers a great breakfast for a modest charge.
