This small restaurant is located in the Central Park complex on St Georges Terrace in the city, and is fairly close to the busport and the Esplanade train station. Bookings can conveniently be made online via the Dimmi portal.

The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful - restaurant doors were held open for us as we entered and again as we left. The tasting menu was modified without prior notice to suit vegetarian requirements which was greatly appreciated.

The tasting menu started with edamame beans, which is not usually a favourite of mine. These were the best I have had - they were served piping hot drizzled with truffle oil and pink salt and were delicious. The other courses were beautifully presented and full of contrasting flavours and textures. My favourite course was the shiitake "cappuccino" soup.

Dessert was a choice of ice cream - I chose the green tea which was served with a "milk bubble" on a crunchy bed of what looked and tasted a bit like crushed cornflakes. Room for improvement there.

The wine list was small, but the wines were unusual and I was pleased with the Eden Valley riesling that I ordered. There is a much larger selection of sake, Japanese vodka and plum wines for a more authentic accompaniment.

Lastly, the toilets were very clean and nicely decorated with a small bamboo plant in between the basins.

Highly recommended!

Looking for somewhere with great Japanese food and service? This is the place. Have not had anything off the menu that was not sensational, so Shiro is very much my favourite place in the city. Very handy to both St George's terrace and Hay St, just behind the Commonwealth Bank. Easy to book on line via Dimmi too and they serve lunch until after 2.30pm so it seems popular with stockbrokers and share traders.

Great location being in Central Park, this funky little eatery has a great vibe and even better food. We all chose the donburi set for lunch which consisted of four courses- salad, tempura (or sashimi), sushi and then the main course (which could be salmon/chicken etc.) Food was fantastically fresh and we had a connoisseur of Japanese food sitting at the table with us and she said it was very good food. With the Entertainment card, it makes it a good priced meal too

All round was a great meal, excellent and friendly service and the food came out very quickly. Would definitely recommend

Korean and Indonesian-owned Japanese restaurant with an inventive fusion menu.

The views of Central Park are lovely especially on a wet rainy night, with raindrops on foliage glistening by the light of the lamps in the park - you would almost think you were in another city, not Perth.

Staff are friendly and obliging. Seating downstairs features banquettes/booths which are great for intimate arrangements, but options for groups of more than four are unsatisfactory as you end up with a very sleek and stylish-looking but ultimately impractical and uncomfortable trestle and bench seat set-up. When we pointed this out ( we had a booking for 7), management was very responsive and set up a table upstairs, which is normally closed on the quieter weeknights.

Overall, we enjoyed the evening at our new seating location, and were served by very attentive and personable wait staff. The food was generally quite good, and our enjoyment was enhanced by the service, setting and ambience. We ordered a selection of dishes to share and all agreed it was a more flexible way of dining than choosing the tasting or omakase menu.

It is somewhat pricey but reasonable for the standard of food and location. The pricing on the wine list needs to be tweaked slightly.

We have been twice and will definitely come back again.

I certainly wouldn't recommend going to Shiro for a romantic dinner, couples are seated at along a bench on wooden stools.
We ordered a drink while we were looking at the menu but before our drinks arrived we were asked three times to place our order.
The entrees were enjoyable but the second course arrived before we had finished our first. Based on average Perth restaurant prices the prices at Shiro were reasonable and the staff were pleasant, it just appeared they wanted us out as fast as possible.
The wine list is very small, only four reds are listed, with only one cabernet an no shiraz at all. They have an extensive sake list but no details of the different types are provided. Given most of us are uneducated in matters relating to sake it would be a good idea if they provided some brief notes about the different types and what goes with which type of food.
The food was good, but not the best Japanese in Perth, if you want that go to Nine Fine Food.
