“Comfortable but could be better”

The hotel is conveniently located at the CBD however, its fixtures are a bit old and run down and its service isnt exactly the best. There is no view outside my room as it is blocked by a taller building and the aircon temperature control is so ancient and let go some sound when its turned to warmer and that is scary. There is too many mirror in the room hence disturbing sleep.

I stayed at this hotel in February 2010 while attending a course just out of the city. Apart from an original hitch - being shown to a room that had a wet carpet and a fan going loudly and at full blast - my request to change rooms was promptly and efficiently attended.
The new room was on the 5th floor and extremely quiet and comfortable, if not the most modern.
The breakfast (I paid an inclusive rate through the Hilton website) was sensational with a wide variety of choices and superior to that on offer at a recent visit to the Melbourne Hilton South Wharf.
i would have no hesitation in staying here or recommending this hotel.

The location is superb, within walking distance of the main Perth rail station and very close to Esplanade rail and bus station and the Barrack Square ferry terminal. It is also just a surprisingly short walk away from Kings Park and the Botanical Gardens with its wonderful views of the city skyline and the Swan River. If you don't feel like walking, there is a Blue Cat bus stop nearby- the Red/Blue/Yellow Cats being free bus services that run circular routes within the central business district of Perth. Incidentally, as well as the Cat services, ALL busses are free within the CBD.

Back to the actual hotel: the room was first rate: large, with a good comfortable bed, plus desk, coffee table, armchair, flatscreen TV and obligatory overpriced minibar. My only slight gripe is that, seemingly in common with most expensive hotels, the bathroom is let down by a smelly, browning shower curtain. The office block adjacent to the hotel is so close that you can almost read the Post-It notes on the wall, but luckily another window in the room had a view of Kings Park.

But basically, no real complaints, and I would be very happy to stay there again next time...

We were in Perth for an event that ended up canceling, so were not really looking forward to the pre-booked visit. However the Parmelia Hilton certainly made our stay one to remember. On arrival we were upgraded to an amazing suite...simply wonderful, and thank you again for that! The breakfasts were great, the room service fast, the pool is just heavenly, and even the housekeeping staff were absolutely lovely. On checking out of the hotel at the very tender hour of 4am, we were even presented with a takeaway bag with breakfast. It really was a case of being delighted at every opportunity, and the staff actually seem proud to be associated with the hotel...and I can see why!

I recommend staying at The Hilton for it's proximity to King's Park and the shopping precinct. There are some lovely bars and restaurants nearby- Tiger Tiger, Belgian Bar Westende and it is only a short stroll to Northbridge where there is a mixture of bars and restaurants. When we were walking around, we noticed that other well known hotels such as Inter Continental and the Hyatt are quite a walk away from the life.
The hotel itself is one of those general "ok" hotels. The room was clean and spacious and bright but it was FREEZING!! The air con had been on all day and despite all our efforts, we couldn't get the room warmer (you could turn it off in theory but we don't know if it actually did!) Also, despite a very helpful concierge there were no leaflets or suggestions beyond one page in the booklet in the room, that suggested things to do, places to see.
The entrance lacked character and the halls were drab and in need of a face lift. I reckon it is a good place to lay your head and do some business but it wasn't exactly a romantic break or a cosy stay!!
I have stayed in many Hiltons and it looks like the Parmelia could use a bit of a renovation to pull it up to the standard of others. I recommend it....just.

We stayed at the Parmelia Hilton for 2 nights prior to a cruise and will definitely stay again when in Perth next. It really was a home away from home. The staff make you feel very welcome and whatever the request they are happy to help.

The breakfast was wonderful and the dining room has a great atmosphere, with enough staff to ensure you are well looked after. The choice for breakfast was massive and special requests are welcome, such as Belgian waffles or real coffee.

The rooms are older (as is the hotel) but it is elegantly chic and the bedding made for an extremely comfy nights sleep. Loved the pillows! Location is great and only a short walk to the Perth CBD or waterfront.

The only draw back is that you can hear noise from other guests while in your room, during our stay we had a wedding party on the same floor who had a hens night in their room and then a very early gathering in the room opposite ours to prepare for the wedding with their door open which made the noise carry into our room.

We felt that this was the exception and wouldn't be a regular event when staying at the hotel and certainly wouldn't stop us booking again.

Very convenient to shopping area and malls. The room we paid for was modern and spacious, but facing construction in front and on the side. After complaining about the noise and the view, they upgraded us to a queen suite on the other side; the furnishings in that room was very outdated, carpet worn out and tired looking. The staff was very nice, restaurant food was surprisingly quite good though.
