Our day tour to The Pinnacles and Yanchep National Park was the highlight to our trip to Perth - it was the perfect day out because of Kandu Holidays! First of all, it was very convenient to book the tour - a wide selection of tours are offered (check their website) with many different combination to choose from. Karen had replied our emails promptly and they operate on a "first come first serve" basis, no deposit required.
Tony picked us up at our hotel in Perth CBD - our traveling party of two were the only ones, which basically made the tour a private one for us. Tony is a great guy - he chatted with us along the way and answered questions we had about Perth and the sites. Conversation was great, and just felt like we were talking to a friend, none of the typical history lesson-type introduction one may get on other tours.
We stopped by the ocean to have morning tea/coffee, and Tony also offered us Lamingtons - delicious! The spot we stopped at was great - we took a walk by the ocean, beautiful view, while Tony brought out the coffee and tea. We were lucky to spot a dolphin there too!
We then arrived at The Pinnacles - as other reviewers mentioned, Tony's vehicle is small enough that we can drive into the dessert, whereas those taking the large coaches would have to alight at the parking lot and can only explore by foot. This is very convenient given on the hot days, it would be very uncomfortable to be out in the sun for too long. The Pinnacles is also a big area, and can be best seen through car + a bit of walking. Tony would pull over at certain spots for photo taking, and also stopped at some "secret" photo taking spots that he had discovered given his frequent visits to The Pinnacles. We also appreciated that he was very flexible and accommodating of what we wanted to see more of. E.g. he would drive the car over to a spot to pick us up, and give us more time to explore the dessert area and for photo taking. There was not a single moment where we felt like we were rushed to be back in the car.
We made a stop at Lancelin to have lunch at a nice quiet picnic area near a park before heading to Yanchep National Park. Tony had asked us earlier if we wanted to join the Crystal Caves tour, and he had called them ahead of time to make sure they were not already full. We made it there just in time for the 2pm tour only because Tony had called, and he went to pay for our tickets while we were on the tour - would've missed it otherwise!! After the tour, Tony made a few stops where there were Kangeroos and again, we had all the photo-taking time we wanted. Also, when we went to see the koalas, it had just rained, and Tony was considerate enough to carry big umbrellas with him just in case.
At the end he dropped us off at Harbortown since we wanted to do some last minute shopping. Such a great guide and a great tour, honestly one of the best tours I had across all my trips. Just fantastic - thanks Tony!
