“Disappointing lunch venue”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012

We did the most expensive captin cook wine cruise which included lunch at The Waters Edge Winery - which was what we were after - thinking we would have a nice leisurely lunch looking at the river. All in all a good day except for the lunch venue. We were showed to a dungeon type function room with no views whatsoever and 3 courses of lunch were served in 30 minutes flat. Not what we expected at a winery at all. Did not even get to see what the winery looked like and if there was some sort of shop/cellar. There were heaps of tables and chairs outside under shade sails that were empty - which is where we went inbetween courses and straight after dessert. The entree was not what was advertised. Suggest a cheaper cruise with lunch on board - this was far too hurried for lunch and I suppose we thought that seeing as were were out for 7 hours that lunch would be a far more leisurely experience.

“An unforgettable terrible experience”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2012

Such unforgettable time... I booked the famous wine tour cruise for a corporate occasion. We were welcoming the Vice-Minister of Mines from Guinea and his delegation. I booked and paid for 8 people as I was unsure about their crazy program during their stay in Perth. Finally, only 6 people show up, I asked for refund, credit note or discount for the 2 tickets not used. I was told NO, comparing the cruise to a plane that if you do not check in, they would not refund you. After few minutes arguing, I gave up and boarded with my group on the boat.

haf way of cruise, the boat had technical problems and decided to bring us back to East Perth Jetty where people were split into 2 groups (different tours). While it was raining and extremely windy, after 20 minutes a bus came for us and drove us to the Edge Waters Winery. We got off the bus and entered a second one taking us to the Swan Valley. As we were late, the wine tour was very quick and we came back to the "Restaurant" at the Edge Waters. Everything was ready and he tables nicely set up. They served us a delicious soup with bread before taking the main course. Then, they brought the main dish which was the most terrible food I had in Australia. I am not expecting a lot in terms of food standard in Perth and I never complain. However, this food was terribly uneatable, the fish was floating in a dark brown juice with Chinese veggies and sweep potatoes all floating like in a soup. The Guinean people (very easy going) said that the chicken did not have any taste and did eat at all. The desert was without comment... no one touch it.

A second boat finally came to pick us up at the restaurant, we were with people from another cruise. We were told 'do not touch their desert' as the lunch was served on board for them and they were told that the wine testing on board was exclusively for our group (included in our tour). Such pity and stinginess. We finally we went back to the Barack Jetty safely with a terrible singer screaming in to loud speakers. We could not even talk.

For $150/tour it does not worth it. The only enjoyable thing was to admire the river sides under the rain. I would never recommend this company and their tours.

“Well worth the experience- Perth to Fremantle”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

We chose to use the 'Captain cook' as a cruise service to Fremantle. We Picked up the cruise at Barrack Square where there is a Captain cook office. We caught the 9:45 and returned by train - each side takes about 1-1.5 hours and costs A$25 for Captain cook to Fremantle and A$ 2.7 for transperth train back to CBD area. The trip was worth the money which we paid and the commentary was good too. The window side seating arrangement was too conjusted for a family to be fit into the table which was meant for catering 6 persons.

Also very convenient for the centre of Fremantle - about 5 mins walk into the town for sightseeing or eateries.

“Great views if swan river area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2012 via mobile

We paid $35 for a return from Perth to Fremantle. We took the 11:30 boat which took and hour and 15 minutes to get to Fremantle. Even though it was winter we had a lovely clear day and great views of Perth and the river. The commentary was very brief but then there wasn't much to comment on! Many houses and scenery was the view but still lovely and a good was to get to Fremantle. We returned on the 3:30 boat and found this was plenty of time in Fremantle except if you wanted to visit the prison where we would have needed to take the earlier boat. I would advise taking the boat one way and the train the other to save money and time.
