This is the old Alhambra Bar, downstairs on the corner of Murray and Barrack Sts.
They've cleaned the place up and it looks nice, with good service and a fair bit of atmosphere. Its probably the citys last early opener, opens at 9am, so it attracts some serious drinkers.
A guys bar, no girls there save 1 barmaid, loud but friendly enough.

We happened upon this restaurant (below street level) on our walk back to the hotel. We were very tired and even though it was only 4.15 they had dinner ready for us in no time: the Tuesday special of Chicken Curry with rice and a glass of beer or wine. It was very comforting to have this simple meal ready without any fuss. The locals were very friendly. We enjoyed it so much, we went back the next evening for the Steak and salad special!

43Below is where we always go to catch up with mates for a beer and lunch. The bar has the usual range of beers on tap and a reasonable selection of wines by the glass. The food is good with a reasonable selection available. The price is average at about $20 each but you can get their daily specials such as steak for $10 on the right day, be aware that sauce with that is extra. Usually quiet at lunchtimes and being downstairs it doesn't get the normal pub passing traffic noise and the televisions are there but not obtrusive like some places.

Decent food. Found it by chance on a cold winter evening. Warm service and great beers. Bustling atmosphere with plenty of locals having a good time.
