This iconic Perth restaurant continues to shine. Many years ago it was a favourite and today it didn't, disappoint. Wine selection was good, main meals with good clean tastes and well presented. Had a lovely pear and rocket salad with crispy fried fish and chips that were light. My companion had fish of the day: a pink snapper dish that he raved about. He had sweets of a chocolate - orange tart with an orange sorbet and a citrus merangue which he ate with gusto. The wait staff were very considerate. The views delightful. Overall, this was a very pleasant way to spend a mid week long long lunch. Money well spent.

We had a Sunday lunch recently where you are charged $75/head for a 3 course meal: shared platter, choice of main and dessert. The food was excellent, service was varied to ordinary for a supposed high standard restaurant, and the wine list was outstanding in terms of options for local and overseas wines and for all price ranges. The location of the restaurant in the building seems to loose out on maximising the views to the city. It seems overall the restaurant is not achieving it's full potential.

We sat on the upper level overlooking the lower level diners and beautiful views of the Perth skyline. We started the dinner with a terrific rocket salad and prawns, followed by a superb main course of lamb shoulder. The food was absolutely fantastic but the service did not deliver. Our waiter vanished for long stretches and we were left waiting for service several times. He really seemed more like a bus boy than a waiter. I watched the other wait staff in the restaurant and our guy did not measure up. It was a holiday weekend and maybe he was just filling in, but there is really no excuse for neglecting customers.

The kiosk is untidy and some of the tables/chairs were spattered liberally with chocolate milk. It was sticky and dirty.

Sandwiches are delivered every few days according to the pleasant and friendly young male who assisted me when I purchased a round of sandwiches- curried egg. they were freezing cold and tasted strange- not like curry at all. (I chose those as I am partial to these sandwiches. The price is higher than one pays at the Perth Royal Show and they are disappointing in dryness of bread. "They are kept in the freezer until we need them."

Other food options include mass produced muffins that have been purchased from a low quality bakery. They are way too big for one person and the flavour is lacking. They, too, were icy cold and patrons commented unfavourably on them after they had purchased them.

I wandered around and listened to patrons' comments. Some, from Malaysia and Singapore were resigned to the standard and cost, pointing out to one another that they were paying for the view- but they would pay significantly less for better quality at home.

I understand that a kiosk is not meant to be for fine dining but a few hundred metres away there is an excellent café/takeaway that produces freshly cut sandwiches with tonnes of fillings on a plate with a napkin and knife/fork and a carafe of water to the table for 50c more. In addition the service is far superior at Zamia.

Again it was a significant moment to mark. Food was top grade (I haven't had otherwise at this location) and we were made to feel extremely special. Waitstaff were attentive and engaging - a great evening.
